My name is Laura Hamilton. I was in the military for two years, and now I'm married (as of October 5, 2010) with two beautiful baby boys! :D I love spending time experimenting in the kitchen; I've recently tried bread-making and I've found out that I really like it!
My favorite things to cook
Anything quick and anything sweet! I do like spending plenty of time in the kitchen, but my family prefers I spend more time with them too. Because of that, I've spent a lot of time on quicker meals with less ingredients. And who doesn't love satisfying a sweet tooth with something fresh and homemade?
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas morning, my mother would make us breakfast pizza with crescent roll dough as the crust. Among all of the food memories she has given me, this is one of my most cherished. :D She has finally given me the recipe, and I tried it this past Christmas to rave reviews from all of my family.
My cooking triumphs
I have several recipes I've been confident enough to serve to company, and people think I'm an amazing cook because of these recipes! One of them is a sweet potato casserole by Paula Deen, one is cheesecake (came out perfect for Thanksgiving 2011), one is chocolate chip cookies, and one is the BBQ Pork for Sandwiches recipe from this site.
My cooking tragedies
Once, when I was much less experienced, I tried to mix up a seasoning base to put on pork chops I was going to saute. I used far too much dried parsley and used vegetable oil; it smelled like I was frying a pine tree, and it tasted even worse. :P I've learned my lesson since then!
