A good, basic chocolate cake. Five stars for the cake, three stars for the icing. I used 4 and a half squares of baker's chocolate (instead of the recommended three) and it turned out very chocolaty (I'm glad I used more than three squares). It took 50 minutes of baking before the toothpick came out clean, but it was still moist and delicious (the very outside edge of the corners got a little dark, but still very edible). Instead of greasing/flouring the casserole I lined it with parchment paper (with flaps drooping over the edges of the pan) and the cake came out beautifully. Huge cracks appeared in the surface of the cake, but those can be hidden by frosting. I'll definitely make this cake again (it would be perfect for a kid's birthday party), but I'll use a frosting rather than this recipe's icing.
