About this Cook
I love to cook and feed people. All my family and friends think I am some great cook thanks to allrecipes. I donate baked goods to the local senior center for their monthly spaghetti dinners and they always seem to be the first to go. I have also won many medals at my Parks & Recreations Annual Baking Contest. I'm really not bragging, I just want everyone to know how much I love this website and to thank all of the wonderful contributor's for making me look so good!
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes all the time. I love to cook many of the Filipino dishes from my fathers side of the family. They are so delicious. Which reminds me, write those family recipes down ASAP. When I really became interested in cooking there were several dishes of my father's that he couldn't remember "exactly" how to make, as he got older. So start those family cookbooks now. Lately I am changing my cooking habits and cutting fat, carbs, calories, etc, while still making the food taste great.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking is always fun for me, and an extra guest or two never seems to throw me off as someone always comes up with a spare friend or two. Most of all I treasure family holiday's when everyone pitches in and cooks their best recipes. We sometimes drink Mimosa's and always laugh a lot. We love to share wonderful memories and make new family traditions.
My cooking triumphs
My most memorable meal was taking my families entire Thanksgiving dinner to my son's friend's house. The boy's mother was buried that day and I silently sobbed throughout my dinner preparations. I thought to myself, I do have another small turkey in the fridge and plenty of everything else. My family was watching football and after smelling all those wonderful aroma's all day long, they could hardly wait for dinner. Then I announced "Dinner is ready, but we're taking it to Tommy's house" My husband looked a little forlon, but his look also told me it was the right thing to do. My very young son was simply mortified. He said "Mom, we can't do that. They don't want to see anybody right now and what if this and what about that" I assured him that not only was it the right thing to do, but also, the only thing to do. My loving family got their Thanksgiving dinner, even if it was several hours later. Needless to say, we all enjoyed our dinner so much more.
My cooking tragedies
As a young bride I knew nothing about cooking. I was trying to bake a ham, and when I tried to score it and glaze it I just couldn't seem to cut through it. My husband had to show me the little metal piece on the end that was holding a second wrapping. I had neglected to cut it off. After eating spaghetti "mush" one night, he also told me to throw a piece of cooked spaghetti on the wall and if it slid down it was overcooked and if it stuck, it was just right. We were so young, ha ha. I immediatly learned my first cooking term ... al'dente.

Kielbasa and Cabbage
I substituted red wine for the water and it was a delicious addition! I did remove the cabbage, then browned and cooked the kielbasa and when it was good and browned, I added the cabbage back and warmed it all. It was wonderful.
