Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
We nearly killed our taste buds! Next time I am definitely using regular canned tomatoes (vs with chiles). I used Trader Joes taco seasoning. Our kids (5&7) couldn't take the heat, but DH and I kept testing with sour cream/milk/cheese to try and cut the spice. Didn't work...but the fact that we tried so hard to make it work says a lot. Bottom line...crazy spicy, but super yummy!

Dennie's Fresh Lobster Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2012
Quite yummy. I got a great deal on steamed NE lobster, but it was cold and I didn't want it risk it turning rubbery if I reheated. This recipe was great for cold lobster. I added a spritz of lemon juice and used white pepper as per other reviews. Kids loved it too (5 & 7yo).

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
Yummy! I tried 2 versions of this recipe as a blindfold taste test for my family: 1. Nutella in place of hot fudge and, 2. Trader Joes Organic Midnight Moo Choc Flavored Syrup in place of hot fudge. Hands down, #2 (chocolate syrup) won. My husband is really fussy about his frosting, preferring it to taste like his moms. My kids like anything sweet, but not sickly sweet. The Nutella didn't quite have a big enough 'kick' of hazelnut, so it was almost a waste of Nutella. The chocolate syrup gave the cocoa more of a deep chocolate flavor. Next time I will try it with a "real" hot fudge topping (I just didn't have any in the house, and the TJ's stuff seemed "healthier", LOL)
