I am a Home Economics teacher in Hong Kong. My students are teenagers from all over the world, so I like to introduce them to local and international cuisine. I have two children aged 6 & 7 and luckily, they aren't picky about food, but I still like to find ways to sneak in good nutrients to family favourites. For example, I add grated carrots to Bolognaise to give it an extra healthy boost and a touch of sweetness. Pureed pumpkin is one of my best choices to add to my daughter's favourite Mac 'n' Cheese.
My favorite things to cook
Traditional Chinese dishes including Honey Chicken Wings, Sweet and Sour Prawns and Fish with Creamy Sweet Corn. I also love making Vegetarian Lasagne (my own recipe), Curries and British Roasts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have a Mexican exchange student living with us this year and together with my younger children, we have been trying out differnt receipes from both Chinese and Mexican cultures.
My cooking triumphs
My Vegetarian Lasagne - which has been perfected over the years! In my role as the Head of Home Economics at my school, I also regularly cater for hundreds of parents and students for school events.
My cooking tragedies
I've been very lucky... I don't believe I've had any cooking 'tragedies', the only thing that comes to mind is the few times when my roast pork belly did not come out as crispy as desired.
