Blueberry Cream Cheese Pound Cake II

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
Great cake. Made it twice in one week. The first one, I used lemon instant pudding mix and the second one french vanilla pudding mix. Used fresh blueberries in both. Both cakes were really good but, my family preferred the one with the french vanilla pudding.

Maman's Fresh Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: May 8, 2010
Very disappointing. The combination of a graham cracker crust with strawberry rhubarb was not to my taste. Definitely needs more rhubarb. Added a whole cup and still could not tell there was rhubarb in it. The layer of strawberries on the bottom did very little to enhance the flavor or texture of the pie. Was very easy to make and it did set up beautifully.

Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
Wonderful pound cake. Very dense and moist. Did make changes as suggested by another reviewer and used the zest and juice of one large lemon and added two teaspoons vanilla extract. Makes a great dessert with the addition of fruit or ice cream.

German Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
Wonderful cake. Very moist and dense with a great apple flavor. Made one little change, used one teaspoon cinnamon and one teaspoon apple pie spice. Really doesn't need frosting or confectioners sugar. But, a little scoop of ice cream would be perfect.

Orange Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2010
Very moist and not overly sweet. Used Splenda sugar blends for both the brown and regular sugar. And apple pie spice for the nutmeg. The addition of raisins or cranberries is a plus. Thanks Doreen.

Pasta Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2010
Very bland as is. Added onion and garlic to meat, and Italian seasonings to cheese mixture. Regular lasagna recipe is still better.

I'm a big fan of chutney and this is one of the best I've ever had. It made the whole house smell awesome. Thanks Cheryl, this one is a keeper.

Cranberry Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
This was excellent. Just a hint of sweet and sour flavor. The only thing I changed was the amount of liquid. Cutting the amount in half still gives you plenty to make gravy. Also added a bit of garlic powder.

Savory Sausage Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
This bread was very bland and dry. The biscuit mix was over-powering and not palatable. A total waste of good ingedients.

Lemon Pineapple Dessert

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2009
Way to sweet! Used 20 ounce can of lemon pie filling and unsweetened pineapple. Eight ounces of sweetened condensed milk would have been more then enough. Great dessert if you have a sweet tooth.

Sausage Cabbage Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
Very good recipe, with a little tweaking. Like others, added one can diced tomatoes and one can tomato sauce. Also, added extra cup of cabbage and one cup of ketchup. If you like stuffed cabbage you will like this casserole.

Lisa's Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
Have been making this cake for over 30 years. As another reader noted, 1 cup oil is excessive. 1/2 cup is more then enough.

Coconut Pineapple Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
Took the advise of another reviewer and used pineapple with heavy syrup and half the recommended corn syrup then replaced the other half with creme de coconut. I also, reduced the sugar to 3/4 cup and toasted the coconut. Comes out picture perfect with a great tropical flavor.

Made this with a couple of additions. To the water added one tablespoon instant espresso coffee. And, to the batter, folded in a half cup of toasted coconut. Awesome!

Layered Eggplant Hamburger Casserole

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
This was good, not great. 1/3 cup dried parsley was a bit much. Used the same amount of fresh parsley. Reduced the water by half and used 1 T Italian seasoning instead of the thyme, oregano and basil. Also, eliminated the onion layer. Needs salt and pepper.
