Coquito

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
I made a double batch and made it exactly as written. My problem is that I hate cloves so this kind of made me feel a little queasy. But my husband loved it only after he added a lot more rum. At one point I mixed in some cool whip and it was delicious and extra creamy and took away some of the strong clove taste.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
I made this a few days ago. This is an excellent recipe without a lot of fuss. I got rave reviews. I did make two slight changes. I used more chili seasoning then the recipe called for and I added a cube of chipolte seasoning. Other than that, I followed the recipe and this will be my go to recipe from now on. One thing I did notice was I thought my beef tasted a little bland so next time I think I will add some seasoning to the beef while browning. By the way, I made a double batch and it fed seven people with no leftovers.

Chicken Curry I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
This was excellent. I just made this tonight. I ran out of curry powder so I only used about 1 tablespoon and I didn't have ground ginger so I had to use fresh. I also used Thai Coconut Curry Chicken broth instead of water. After it was all done I thickened it and served it over white rice that I also cooked with the Thai Coconut Curry broth instead of water. So so good.

Sweeper Steak

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
I made this and followed the recipe exactly. This is not a great meal that I would serve to dinner guests but it is good enough for your everyday meal. You know, when you come home from work and really don't feel like cooking but want something different. I served this over linguine which I think was a mistake. I think this would have been better over yellow rice or with mashed potatoes. Also I think a litte wine would be a good addition or even some chicken broth to thin the sauce out a little bit. Oh, for those who said the meat was tough. Some of my meat chunks were tough also. I think we probably need to use a better cut of beef or just need to cook longer or cut into smaller chunks.

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
This was a great sauce. I cooked a third of the strawberries for about 15 minutes and then blended until smooth. I then sliced the remaining strawberries and added to the sauce. I refrigerated the sauce to serve with mini cheesecakes from this site. For those who said the vanilla made the sauce taste a little off use 1 tsp of fresh lemon juice instead. This is a good sauce that can be served with pancakes, waffles, crepes, ice-cream, cake, etc.**update, after I took this out of the fridge I pureed the whole mixture and added chopped strawberries.

Mini Cheesecakes I

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
This was a very good recipe. I think it could benefit from a little lemon juice. I made these in cupcake tins using a whole vanilla wafer. I cooked for 20 mins with a pan of water on the lower oven rack. I turned the oven off and left the cheesecakes in the oven for about 30 minutes. This made 15 cupcake sized cheesecakes. This is a very good recipe. Next time I will double the recipe and make a whole cheesecake.*update - everyone loved this, they were the hit of the party. One person said this was the best cheesecake he ever had and he said he knows cheesecake.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: May 25, 2007
I made these wings tonight and they were to die for. I am horrible at frying and I cannot believe how beautiful these came out. So nice and crispy. They were better than a restaurant. They were a little too spicy so next time I will add more butter to the hotsauce. So very delicious and I followed the recipe exactly. No need to deviate from the original recipe.

Italian Wedding Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2006
Followed the recipe except I used Asini di pepe because I do not like orzo and I used half ground chuck and half ground pork. Also will need to half the pasta, it is way too much. Do not make the mistake I made by simmering the soup for 10 minutes and then adding the pasta and simmering for another 10 minutes. This cooked the meatballs too long and they were a little dry. This soup is good to eat and easy to make.

BLT Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2006
Everyone loved this dip. I added green onions and black pepper. I did not peel the tomatoes. Some reviewers said this dip was runny and I did not find that to be the case at all. Perhaps they did not seed and dry the tomatoes before adding. Oh, I also used Hormel bacon already cooked and crumbled. It made making this dip so easy. I thought the dip was salty when combined with ruffle chips and Ritz Crackers but no one else seemed to think so. I will definately make again.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2006
I followed the recipe exactly except I used Linguine because I hate angel hair. I was not that impressed and neither was my family. We all ate it but probably will not make again. I do think its necessary to double the sauce and maybe quickly brown the chicken before it goes in the oven so it will have a better appearance.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2005
this is a very good recipe. I used this on turkey and chicken. I followed the recipe exactly except added a few sprinklings of garlic powder and baked in a cooking bag and took the meat off the bone before serving. I would absolutely recommend cutting back on the seasoning salt. The gravy was excellent just a little too salty. I thickened the pan juices with flour and on one occassion added a jar of store bought gravy to stretch it out.

Vegetable Medley I

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2004
I am giving this four stars because even though it was good I had to make changes. Instead of using parmesan cheese I used mozzerella which was much better. I also used italian seasoning instead of the basil and oregano. I also had to drain the mixture before I put it in the oven and again after I took it out. If you like your veggies a little crunchy do not cook to long on the stove. I will be making this again with my changes.

Fra Diavolo Sauce With Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2004
My husband loved this. I hated it because I didn't like the scallops. I also used canned diced tomatoes which may have been a mistake.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2003
I am giving this five stars because my husband really loved them. I didn't quite like the nutmeg but I will make again. I followed the recipe except I doubled the sauce but not the apples. After I removed the apples from the sauce I accidently over cooked the sauce so I had to make a new batch. So do not let your sauce cook to long otherwise it will stick to your teeth like when you eat a real caramel apple. And if you do have to make a second batch of sauce without the apples add a little liquid to compensate for the natural juice from the apples.

Roast Chicken with Rosemary

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2003
This chicken was so delicious. I could not beleive how much flavor the rosemary and onion added. I also added garlic to the cavity and rubbed garlic powder, butter and sage all over the outside of the chicken. I also basted with the pan juices and chicken broth. This was a smash hit with my husband, eight year old daughter and her two friends. This is a definate keeper. I served this with green beans and Bellas Rosemary Red Potatoes from this site.
