About this Cook
I started out 30 years ago as a kitchen aide in a Girl Scout camp for 3 weeks. I started cooking in restaurants at 16 and took a year of classes in Culinary Arts. I was eventually the Pantry Chef at a private country club. I've been out of professional cooking for the past 16 years, but still love to do it.
My favorite things to cook
1.) Something my kids will eat! Even if they have to pick some ingredients out! 2.) Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans: The perfect comfort meal!! 3.) A heck of a lot of other stuff, too! Garlic, garlic, garlic...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Corned beef, veggies, and my mother's special mustard she'd make for it.
My cooking triumphs
When my kids eat everything!!
My cooking tragedies
Um, I forget what it was, but about 20 years ago, dinner was so bad, we had to call Dominoes to bring a pizza to replace dinner! Another time, I was having a dinner party, and I kept checking the meatloaves, but they never cooked because I forgot to turn the oven on!!

Chef John's French Fries
I've been using this method for years. But I slice mine as thin rounds and add Old Bay seasoning once they're done. Twice-fried is the best way to go!!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style
We make this a few times a month. The family loves it.

Wieners and Beans
Boy, did my kids love "Hot Dog Soup". The mustard and BBQ (I used Ting Tang BBQ sauce from this site) sauce added a little umph to please the adults, too. Quick, easy, but a lot better than Pork n Beans from a can. Thanks!
