These are delicious, and very versatile. I followed some tips from other users and threw in 2 mashed bananas, dropped the sugar down to 1/2 cup, subbed coconut oil for vegetable, flax seed meal for half the wheat germ, and put in 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips. DIVINE! My kids inhaled them, and I sneaked several - yum! I have made them with pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice and walnuts as well, and applesauce and diced apple with apple pie spice, also delish. I also recommend baking for only about 18-20 minutes and leaving an inch and a half - 2 inches at the end of the pan, it will still hold its shape and the bars are the perfect thickness that way. Definitely give these a try!
