Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
Very good-a little soupy with the tomato soup poured over. I think if I make them again I'll stick with green bell peppers (we used all the other colors) and add the rotel like I've seen suggested here for a little punch.

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
Wow, this soup was delicious! I disagree with the reviews claiming it was bland, I thought it had the perfect amount of seasoning--more would have obscured the delicate squash flavor. The only changes I made was 1/2 the cream cheese as many have suggested, butter instead of margarine, and broth instead of bullion cubes. I made part of it with vegetable broth to accommodate my vegetarian sister and the difference was barely detectable. I took this soup to a party and received lots of compliments on it, and I will definitely make it again--a very cozy soup!

Cranberry Sauce Extraordinaire

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2005
I have made this for thanksgiving the past two years and it is delicious--people who don't normally like cranberry sauce (like myself) like this recipe.

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2004
This recipe is wonderful, people who normally don't eat sweet potatoes ate this and liked it. A physical fight almost started over who got to take the leftovers home! I just followed the recipe as it is written, although I added a few canned yams to make up for only having 4 yams instead of 5.

Russian Black Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2004
This bread was good, but it was very light and fluffy, and the flavor just wasn't what I was expecting. It wasn't a bad bread, it just didn't seem like what a dark russian bread should be.

Garden Herb Loaf

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2004
this was an amazing, wonderful bread. I made it for a party and it was beautiful, easy to make, and had a wonderful sweet italian flavor. I recommend it to all my friends. The braiding sounded difficult but it was actually very easy

Banana Coconut Loaf

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2004
Very tasty, moist bread. I think I was expecting it to be a little less like banana bread--the flavor of the cherries, almond and coconut were hardly detectable through the banana. It was delicious banana bread nonetheless!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2004
This is wonderful. It is my favorite white bread recipe; it is somewhat dense and sweet, and it is hard to keep my family from eating both loaves all at once as soon as they come out of the oven.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2003
Delicious, classic, stuffing--what stuffing should be. I, too, made it with dried cherries, and it was a great blend of rich and tart flavors. I will be making this recipe every thanksgiving from now on!!

Easy Candy Yams

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2003
I'm giving this rating for how it tasted after I made a few changes. The recipe doesn't specify whether the yams should be cooked or not; mine weren't and were still hard after 45 minutes of cooking. So I would recommend precooking. I also felt that the recipe had WAY too much butter, so I poured alot of it off as well. But after cooking what I had left in the microwave until the potatoes were soft, I mashed them with the butter and caramel sauce left in the pan, put marshmellows on top and cooked them in the oven for the last 10 minutes. They were delicious!!! The best candied yams I've ever made--they disappeared very quickly.

Savory Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2003
This was an ok gravy recipe. I increased the flour as recommended by others, and I felt it was a bit bland, but good for gravy that does not involve pan drippings.

Apple Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2003
This cake was delicious!! The topping was not too sweet, it was just right, and the cake had a vanilla flavor with a hint of apple. That would be my only complaint--I wanted a stronger apple taste. Still, it was very good. I brought it to an apple dessert potluck my daughter's kindergarten held and I think it was the most popular dessert there, both with the adults and with children.
