Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2012
This is a great recipe. My favorite is the version which includes garlic and parsley and spinach, but this is still a 5 star version. Thanks for sharing!

Original Homemade Italian Beef

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
We liked this. I used half the Italian dressing mix and replaced the water with juice from the pepperoncini and we thought that was not too salty. This really needs a crusty, not soft, bread, to do it justice. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Chocolate Hazelnut Cigars

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
These are simple, delicious, and a fantastic way to use up leftover phyllo dough when making a savory entree for dinner. I always wind up with part of a package left over and am always looking for easy fillings, and this was one of our favorites. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Puppy Chow

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
I add a teaspoon of vanilla as per the original recipe on the box. This is one of the biggest hits I make every year for Christmas, which is sad considering how easy it is compared to things that have been less popular!

Big Smokey Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2012
My burgers were so wet they fell apart. I should have added oatmeal or breadcrumbs (plain) as soon as I realized there was too much liquid. I think my meat might've been runnier than it should've been, it's not necessarily a problem with the recipe, but all the same I was flipping ruined burgers through no fault of my own so I'm going to have to dock this one for that so that I remember not to make this one again without revision. Sorry - the flavors were nice though. I used Penzey's "Mural of Flavor" for the grill seasoning since I didn't know what that was anyway and I like Mural. Thanks for sharing!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2012
Another 5 stars. This is a great recipe. I would double the frosting but then again I don't put all the sugar in it, so it's not as sweet, and that means I get less frosting out of the recipe. Many people mentioned a problem with the filling running out -- if you just let them sit til they're completely cool, the filling condenses and soaks back into the bottoms so you taste it in every bite anyway. You don't need to turn the pan over or anything, just be patient :) Thanks for sharing, to me these are better than Cinnamonster or Cinnabon.

Barbeque Chicken and Red Onion Pizza

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2012
If you're not super careful with the onion measurement and put more than 1/3 cup (which isn't much at all) you wind up with wet spots underneath every single onion. Be forewarned! This was tasty though, thanks for sharing.

Carolyn's Orange Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2012
This one is hard to rate. It turned out fantastic, but there are some real issues with the recipe that I think merit a loss of a star. Mainly, I divided this recipe in half and STILL had to add 1.5 cups of flour to get a workable dough. But once I'd done that, the dough was so beautiful, easy to roll, and buttery tender in flavor that it was worth the extra flour. The extra flour did throw off the yield though, and because I didn't size up the filling I wound up with not enough filling -- so be forewarned, if you add more flour to make this dough come together, add more filling. In the future I would use brown sugar in the filling, twice as much fresh orange zest, and cinnamon. Thanks for sharing your recipe, I iced mine with an OJ/powdered sugar icing.

Egg Drop Soup (Better than Restaurant Quality!)

I felt this needed a LOT more seasonings. Not to our taste. Thank you for sharing though.

Hot Dog Onions

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
I've never had the type of onions this recipe is trying to recreate, so I can't speak for how close a representation it is. We liked these ok, not sure if they're a make-again or not. If I do, I'll double the mustard and halve the oil. Thanks for sharing!

Buttermilk Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: May 27, 2012
Nothing but great things to say about this recipe. The biscuit kind of shortcake is my preferred type, and this recipe delivers. I halved the recipe for 6 shortcakes and it worked beautifully in my 4-cup food processor. 16 minutes was perfect in my oven. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Grilled Asian Chicken

Reviewed: May 26, 2012
This was tasty. We marinated the chicken for 24 hours, and after that the marinade sort of "broke" apart so that it wasn't suitable to do anything with, so I can't be 100% sure what it would have tasted like with the basting sauce. Thanks for sharing!

Bada Bing Bada Banged Potatoes

Reviewed: May 26, 2012
We thought these were excellent. Use whatever method seems best to you of getting the butter and seasonings on. I do think that it's important to do the potatoes in this "shape" for best results though, having made several recipes like this I can honestly say that the way the smashed potato fries in its own oil all nice and flat like that is a vast improvement over cubed or french-fry cut potatoes. Thanks for sharing your recipe, I served this with t-bones and salads and not a bit left over.

Best Steak Marinade in Existence

Reviewed: May 26, 2012
I don't know if it's the best in existence, but despite the rather unorthodox herbs, it really is very good. We had this on t-bones and it was very tasty, no need for steak sauce. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Best-Ever Meat Loaf

Reviewed: May 25, 2012
This was not a favorite for us. We prefer AR's "Brown Sugar Meatloaf" and "Dill Pickle Meatloaf". I found this to be a bit bland, a bit cakey (too much filler?), and the basil was just weird to me. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

Walnut-Coconut Coffee Cake

Reviewed: May 24, 2012
This is a delicious, old-fashioned cake recipe. Reminds me of cakes my grandma used to make. Super duper easy (it was literally mixed and ready to go in the oven in minutes), the only change I made was to toast the walnuts and coconut in a skillet because I love that flavor. I'll make this again, thanks for the recipe!

Candied Kielbasa

Reviewed: May 23, 2012
This is fantastic. I used turkey kielbasa and made it on the stovetop in a pan so that I could reduce the sauce. It was very watery at first, but 30 minutes of careful simmering fixed it down into a deep dark beautiful homemade barbecue-sauce coating my kielbasa. Served on slider buns with fresh pineapple and spinach salad. Thanks for sharing!

Ricotta Gnocchi

Reviewed: May 22, 2012
I made this with jarred sauce that I doctored up to have the flavors of this one (and the cheese). We thought the gnocchi came out really well, tender and flavorful, if maybe a touch on the salty side, but that has to do with the cheese you use too and mine might've been salty. These are very simple to do and seem impressive when they're really not that difficult or time-consuming to do. Thanks for sharing!

"Million Dollar" Chinese Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: May 19, 2012
I emulsified the dressing so that it wouldn't separate overnight as I knew I'd be using the leftover dressing. Otherwise I followed the directions as written, only I keep the crunchy bits as a topping at the last minute instead of mixing in as we can't eat the whole salad in one sitting. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Real Strawberry Frosting

Reviewed: May 17, 2012
Absolutely the best strawberry frosting I've ever tasted. I don't know how much sugar I used, I just add it til it looks and tastes right for me. I did add a little salt because I use unsalted butter. Thanks for sharing, Candice!
