Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Excellent flavor. I rolled it into a log and froze it, thawed it, rolled the log in powdered sugar, and used unflavored dental floss to slice it into rounds. Perfect, soft, and flavorful. In an ideal world I'd have cut them into gingerbread men but I haven't got time this year -- but these are delicious even for those of us who aren't keen on cookie cutters! Thanks for sharing! P.S. I used less cloves and more cinnamon due to taste preferences.

Brownies with Peanut Butter Fudge Frosting

Chef John's Macaroni and Cheese

This has a lot going for it, so 5 stars. It was not my very favorite because I missed the flavor of garlic in this dish. I do think I prefer a teaspoon of dried ground mustard powder to a teaspoon of Dijon also. But this is definitely a top contender with just a few flavor tweaks based on personal preference :) Thanks for sharing!

Caramel Brownie Cake

Everyone but me really loved it. I thought it was too sweet and the brownie part baked up thinner and a bit chewier than I expected based on this photo. Because I like to make my life more difficult than it has to be, in the future I'd whip my own cream for this so it isn't too sweet. Thanks for sharing!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

This is my new favorite oatmeal cookie recipe. I doubled the cinnamon and added 1/2 tsp salt since I use unsalted butter. I used quick-cooking oats because I like my oatmeal cookies less poofy. I used a bigger cookie scoop -- it's actually the one I use for meatballs, I really don't know the size, but not that big -- and baked for 17 minutes. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Sausage 'n Stout Cheese Soup

The taste is very nice, but it's too thin and the cheese does that funky thing that cheese does when added without a roux. This is a great idea, but it's worth the time to find a beer-cheese soup with a roux, at least for me, in the future. Thanks for sharing!

Cheeseburger Soup I

I had to add quite a large amount of spices to this to make it tasty. Perhaps I didn't add enough cheese though. There's definite potential to add spices to your personal tastes here for a 5 star recipe. Thanks for sharing!

Pecan Sour Cream Pound Cake

This turned out deliciously. I did have to bake it quite a bit longer than stated (in a tube pan) -- around 110 minutes, so 1 hour 50 minutes. The last 15 minutes I baked at 350 because I was just so tired of checking it in 15 minute intervals. I would bake this at 325 next time rather than 300. It turned out of the pan (using Baker's Joy spray) beautifully and tasted great. Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Cherry Bliss Brownies

These were delicious and went over very well at my DH's work. I made the brownie part according to the instructions on the box rather than the instructions here. These come out very pretty and hold their shape nicely for cutting if you refrigerate them (after completely cooling them at room temp) overnight. I think they'd make a very popular, pretty addition to a Christmas tray. Thanks for the recipe!

Nonie's Best BBQ

We liked this a lot, I think the vinegar adds something that my usual BBQ sauce recipes are lacking. We'll definitely make this again. I did play around with the ratios/amounts of white/brown sugar so that it tasted best to me. And I used dried onion in place of minced fresh because I'm too lazy to cut up an onion just for 2 teaspoons! Thanks for sharing your recipe :)

Pumpkin Gingerbread

I don't know where my review for this went, I made it the week after "lisa", on September 6th, because she made it sound so good. We liked this but it wasn't as gingery as I expected. I made this into muffins and now I have no idea how long I baked them for since the site ate my original review! They sure were good though. Thanks for sharing!

Whole Wheat Banana Nut Bread

I used half honey and half brown sugar. It would've tasted sweeter with all honey, but I didn't want to waste honey on a recipe I wasn't sure I'd like. It turns out we did like it! It IS nice and moist. Some of the pictures show a dry bread, but those are overbaked loaves. I made 12 muffins, 18 minutes @ 350 degrees. Thanks for sharing!

Kielbasa Apple Kabobs

*This review refers to Taste of Home's "Kielbasa Apple Kabobs" which is no longer on this site unless you already had it saved in your recipe box. This link will take you to another recipe* With that said -- This is 5 stars for sure and we will absolutely have this a LOT more times in the future. I used turkey kielbasa and added an onion to the kabobs. I would add another apple in the future because that was a unique and very enjoyable new flavor to us for kabobs. I think this could be done under the broiler all winter long and I am going to give that a shot, too. Thanks for the recipe!

Prune and Raisin Filled Cookies

I thought these could use some more filling -- mine is a little sparse looking compared to the photograph. This was otherwise very straightforward and easy to do. The dough was simple to work with. I made a half-batch but used the entire quantity of icing. Thanks for sharing your recipe!
