Squash Braid

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
wonderful bread!! if you let your bread machine do all the work, you only have to braid it and put the finishing touch. It comes out fluffy and orange and definitely appealing!

not bad, but too much calories and things for the results I got. Don't mean to do it again, sorry

Basic Irish Soda Bread With Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
5 stars not enough! I added buttermilk instead of plain milk, and being in a hurry didn't cut the dough into squares, just rolled it into a wheel and put the beaten egg (yes, 1 is enough) on top, with some shredded provolone just dumped on it. After 10 minutes it was ready and I cut it into wedges. Wonderful!!! like a pizza, but no waiting for the dough to rise! Shamefully easy and quick, and I got a lot of praise.

Sweet Potato Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
not bad, but I must confess I was expecting something more: the sweet potato didn't come out at all, and they were simple rolls, quite as usual; normally when you add potatoes the bread is softer and fluffier, not so this time. So, I'll stick with plain potato rolls.

Cranberry Upside-Down Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
really quick and easy, and quite pretty! I only had dry cranberries and soaked them in hot water for a little while. I also substituted pecans with hazelnuts, and it was a smash! Only, I'd like to try with less butter, at least in the batter.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
no wonder it's the 5 star zucchini bread according to so many people! it's amazing how such a simple, healthy thing can also be so good. I made muffins out of this batter, and added some chocolate morsels, it really is something! thanks a lot!

Swedish Chocolate Balls (or Coconut Balls)

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
very goood!! we went to Sweden on holydays and were quite enthusiastic about these cakes, so I tried to have them homemade and it worked! easier then I thought and no baking at all. Plus, the children gobbled oats up without even knowing. Thanks a lot!

Butter Dip Breadsticks

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2010
unbelievably easy and quick, and really impressive!!! nobody can't think how you made breadsticks in such a little time, you grab the ingredients and pop them into the oven. I added dry rosemary but I guess parmesan and flaked onion would have been great as well. Thanks a lot

Buttermilk Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
I agree with some other reviewers, the roll itself is bland, it's the filling that does the trick. I have tried other recipes of good cinnamon rolls, but I liked this one for the strong use of buttermilk in it, which is a novelty for me. So I'll keep this.

Irresistible Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
quick, easy and quite successful: I served it with a tomato salad and grilled fish, but my little one doesn't want the fish so she had cheese. The kids were enthusiastic about it, she even wanted a bit more to mop olive oil with up from her plate:-) Hubby said it tastes too sweet, so I'm glad I didn't put raisins, but I'm sure that they would be a great addition. I omitted the butter, but it didn't suffer a bit from it!

Monkey Peanut Butter Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
goodness itself! used milk chocolate and the kids gobbled everything up, oats and all:-) I think I'll put some whole wheat flour in next time, just to make sure it's healthier, as I've seen you don't notice. I agree that spreading the chocolate is nearly impossible, and the risk of braeking the fragile crust of the bars is very high. I gave up in the end but the result didn't suffer for it, in my opinion. Last but not least: it looks undercooked when you take it out of the oven after the stated time, but do not give in to the temptation to leave it longer!

Mountain Mama's Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
I must have done wrong, because all they were but pancakes. The taste was good, though. Only, my kids said they resembled more mashed potatoes with cheese tossed about in a skillet than pancakes: and in fact I wonder how you coul wrap 'em around anything, seeing my result.

Strawberry Roses

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
Wow, everybody went crazy about it! a really huge success with no fuss at all: I served these beautiful roses at my kid's Confirmation party, and got rave reviews. I used cream cheese (the lighter version, less fat than the regular and extremely less fat than mascarpone cheese!), didn't bother with the sugar and used simply granulated sugar I had handy, and a tablespoon of lemon juice, that's all. Delicious and impressive

Butternut Squash Pizzas with Rosemary

great pizza! for a milder taste, ricotta and mozzarella is the answer. But if you want to dare, blue cheese along with mozzarella is what you are looking for:-)

German Chocolate Bars

huge succes with this! as someone else said, half of the milk goes into the cake mix, the other half with the caramels. I didn't change a single thing and personally I find walnuts quite wonderful in it!

Apple Bavarian Torte

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
fantastic result with a very easy recipe, ready in a flash. I must admit I was skeptical about the crust (afraid it would be crumbly and dry), but how wrong I was! and the apples were nicely caramelized... all in all, this is a great discovery and I will keep it for sure!

Black Bottom Cupcakes I

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2010
very quick recipe and so easy that my 6 year old can make by herself. And this is why I could't have coffee into the batter. But I'll try with milk in place of water to see if it's going to improve things even more

Naan

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
First time I ever tried to do naan and the resullt brought me compliments galore! easy and quick, solved what used to be a mistery for me (in indian restaurants I always wondered about how could they possibly do it?). The garlic powder bit makes the difference but I'll try with grated cheese also as a lot of indian places have cheese naan! ty for this recipe
