Monkey Peanut Butter Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2010
goodness itself! used milk chocolate and the kids gobbled everything up, oats and all:-) I think I'll put some whole wheat flour in next time, just to make sure it's healthier, as I've seen you don't notice. I agree that spreading the chocolate is nearly impossible, and the risk of braeking the fragile crust of the bars is very high. I gave up in the end but the result didn't suffer for it, in my opinion. Last but not least: it looks undercooked when you take it out of the oven after the stated time, but do not give in to the temptation to leave it longer!

Mountain Mama's Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
I must have done wrong, because all they were but pancakes. The taste was good, though. Only, my kids said they resembled more mashed potatoes with cheese tossed about in a skillet than pancakes: and in fact I wonder how you coul wrap 'em around anything, seeing my result.

Strawberry Roses

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
Wow, everybody went crazy about it! a really huge success with no fuss at all: I served these beautiful roses at my kid's Confirmation party, and got rave reviews. I used cream cheese (the lighter version, less fat than the regular and extremely less fat than mascarpone cheese!), didn't bother with the sugar and used simply granulated sugar I had handy, and a tablespoon of lemon juice, that's all. Delicious and impressive

Butternut Squash Pizzas with Rosemary

Reviewed: May 24, 2010
great pizza! for a milder taste, ricotta and mozzarella is the answer. But if you want to dare, blue cheese along with mozzarella is what you are looking for:-)

German Chocolate Bars

Reviewed: May 12, 2010
huge succes with this! as someone else said, half of the milk goes into the cake mix, the other half with the caramels. I didn't change a single thing and personally I find walnuts quite wonderful in it!

Apple Bavarian Torte

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2010
fantastic result with a very easy recipe, ready in a flash. I must admit I was skeptical about the crust (afraid it would be crumbly and dry), but how wrong I was! and the apples were nicely caramelized... all in all, this is a great discovery and I will keep it for sure!

Black Bottom Cupcakes I

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2010
very quick recipe and so easy that my 6 year old can make by herself. And this is why I could't have coffee into the batter. But I'll try with milk in place of water to see if it's going to improve things even more

Naan

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
First time I ever tried to do naan and the resullt brought me compliments galore! easy and quick, solved what used to be a mistery for me (in indian restaurants I always wondered about how could they possibly do it?). The garlic powder bit makes the difference but I'll try with grated cheese also as a lot of indian places have cheese naan! ty for this recipe

Cranberry Nut Tarts

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2010
They seemed quite similar to an English recipe, the Bakewell tart. Quite good, the pastry with cheese is somewhat interesting. The filling is a bit drier than expected. My kids liked them but didn't jump out of their skin.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
wonderfull, and very original indeed. Very well worth the extra work of preparing the cookie dough, that you can easily do in advance or avoid, if you're very pressed. The freezing part is essential, thou!

Brownie Torte

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
I'm not completely happy with the result, the edges were a bit dry and it's much more elastic than I thought: I was expecting something more fudgey... but the taste was quite good

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
We were quite satisfied with this recipe, it's awfully simple and nobody can believe that these wonders come straight from your oven! my 6year-old little girl got a kick out of it, making long ropes and seeing them turn into fantastic bread!

Venice High School Cherry Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2010
My kid gobbled them up and I'm quite satisfied with the result! the cookies were good and pretty, I put a whole cherry on top and no icing. Only, I added an egg because with my kitchen aid the dough won't come together no matter how long I mixed

Chess Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2010
a very good cake, absolutely easy and no fuss at all. I used only 1 egg in the top layer, because I had only 3 in the fridge, but it was ok; and less sugar than stated, and it was so sweet all the same.

Cranberry Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
very very good, and you can't complain about them being long to prepare! they were ok with me and got rave reviews. Some said they could be great with a touch less sugar, but I must admit I hadn't got cranberries and used cherry preserve after all...

Warm Mushroom Spread

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
excellent, I served it as side dish/sauce on roasted meat, not as an appetizer on crackers. It works famously with simple, not-so-expensive champignon mushrooms, otherwise quite bland and boring:-)

Blue Cheese Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
can't say it was not good, 'cause it was quite well liked. Only, I expected something different: I prepared it for a brunch and it came out as a pie with a crumbly crust. And was received as a pie by everybody, nobody at all questioned the matter. As I had leftovers and some other people to dinner 2 days later, I decided to warm it and serve it cut into little morsels, with onion and cider chutney. Well, it's been a hit!

Baked Brie in Puff Pastry

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
I used some blueberry&raspberry preserve, and nuts, and had the cutest little bries... they were pretty, if a little grasy, with melted cheese and all. Quite unusual but nobody raved about it, I must say...
