Hot Pizza Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2013
we liked it a lot, it's easy and quite impressive when you think of the amount of time it took you to get it together. Anything that can go on a pizza can basically go here: I don't like anchovies, but put a lot of oregano and black olives. Even the children cannot quite criticize it... I have no microwave but this didn't put me out: it is a success straight from the oven too

Herman Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
great find! I certainly can use a new recipe other than bread to dispose of my sourdough starter, and these pancakes are light and fluffy into the bargain! my kids proclaimed it a keeper

Sourdough Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2013
quite a good, basic cake, which has a lot of possibilities and helps you use the extra sourdough starter you end up with when you are messing around with natural leavening and so on. I made it twice, once as described and yesterday with instant coffee powder instead of cocoa and the result is still good. You can also add apples, pears or any fruit, and chips of any kind.

Sweet Corn Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2013
my very first corn bread, so I have nothing to compare it with. We ate it hot, and it was very good. We liked it on the sweet side, as I added some more sugar; great with cheese, ham and also standing alone

Garbanzo Bean Chocolate Cake (Gluten Free!)

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2013
it gets 5 stars from me because it's not the most decadent and wonderful chocolate cake we've ever tasted, but it deserves it considering its healthyness, easyness and general effect. I decided to give it a try having processed a great amount of beans to prepare hummus, so it was no big deal to reserve 2 cups for the dessert. I did it out of curiosity, as we don't particularly need a gluten-free cake, but my husband is allergic to every kind of nuts, and I can assure you that this cake consistency does remind you of something made with nuts. I had company and nobody detected the beans, so there... only improvement I think I could suggest would be the addition of more cocoa, to make it a bit more "dark" without increasing the calories

Serendipity Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2013
5 stars for sure, and I can assure that my family is quite used to hand made breads of every conceivable kind, I do bake a lot. This bread is awesome, truly: I followed the directions, put some dried rosemary and garlic paste while mixing the flour. It really takes a couple of minutes on the grill, but the taste is wonderful, and no trouble at all. I think we'll never grill a thing without this bread on the table!!

Easy Apple Coleslaw

Reviewed: May 20, 2013
We loved this recipe! I added sultanas and omitted red peppers, simply because I forgot to buy some... it was good after 2 hours and even better the day after. I used vegan mayo, which is amazing and cholesterol-friendly, enriched with ginger, and it complimented the other flavours. I may add that it looks pretty too!

Berry Shortbread Dreams

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
veri crumbly dough; I decided to leave it alone and made a sort of cheesecake crumly bottom and put the jam on top. Taste was good, but as cookies go, I found better recipes

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2013
this is great to decorate and use as a base for wedding/birthday cakes. I did fold the egg whites very delicately, and I added the extra 1/2 cup of milk. It worked beautifully: used white chocolate creme patissiere to fill it, wetting the 2 layers generously before with sour cherry juice, which contrasted beautifully with the cloying sweetness of the white choc. Also, the juice tended to give a soft pinkish color to the cake, which is the desired effect, as the party was for my little girl. So versatile, it's a keeper!

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2013
my kids gobbled it up in no time! it's quite tho original, perfect with feta and tomato salad with olives, like you were in Santorini... I made the dough in the bread machne, it came out a bit sticky so I worked it with flour. Do not worry because it doesn't rise much, all the raising happens inside the oven, so to speak. I was in a hurry, so no brown paper bag and no damp towel either, straight from the oven on the table, but I reckon they didn't suffer for it...

Winter Squash Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2012
lovely bread; I somewhat expected a more orange colour, but it depends on the squash you are using I suppose. Made twists and decorated with butternut squash toasted seeds; my, it was pretty! I'd like to try with fresh or dry sage as suggested by some other reviewer. I think that also onion flakes could deserve a try.

Blue Cheese Dip II

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2012
it's a sort of tzaziki with a northern twist... very good with chips or veggies, it's not to die for. As everyone else said, it's better to let it sit for at least 24 hours. I also agree on using much more blue chesse: I quite love it and in my opinion you failed to taste its presence among the green onion and all.

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2012
don't know about being french, it was very good anyway: I had the bread machine do the work, then I got the dough out and divided in 8. I flattened the dough balls and twisted the dough, trying to form little baguettes. Some come out, some went together and the baguette shape was lost: I brushed with egg white and baked for 15 minutes. The result was small loeves of slightly baguette-like bread, very good indeed.

Tea Time Tasties

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2012
they were delicious! tasty little morsels, they tasted as they were full of honey, and I loved the pastry recipe, made with cream cheese! I'm going to try and have a go with a jam filling as well... I confess I had a normal sized muffin pan, and so I had them bigger than the recipe recommended, but I'm happy about it anyway.

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2012
it's very moist and goey in the centre, and the icing is quite something! I got away with much less, thou, beacause they seem not to appreciate too strong an icing presence around here. Fabulous indeed!!

Chocolate Cappuccino Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2012
this has become a great favourite: I even twist the recipe to accomodate other ingredients instead of using other recipes. The only change I made is that I use cocoa powder instead of melted chocolate to have the chocolate filling: this way I'm also able to avoid the cream and I can assure you that nobody could ever doubt it, it's sinful and smooth enough.

Easy Guacamole

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2012
got rave reviews from this: I had a guest who's been to Chile for a while and he told me that mine is better by a long shot. It kept really well, thanks to the avocado stone I left into the dip, perharps? I had a very heavy hand with the onion, really, and I think I'm going to go easier next time, but nobody ever complained about it!

Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2012
they turned out perfect as promised, I didn't change a thing except the egg wash, which I substituted with milk, brushing them just before baking so that the poppyseeds stay put. Wonderful recipe, so very effortless and quick!
