South Georgia Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2007
We did like these: quick to prepare and to bake (I came home from work, decided on impulse, ingredients required you cannot not have) they were devoured in a jiff!

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2007
absolutely as promised! yesterday dinner has been built around these rolls: they are good with jam or salami or cheese or tomatoes... I made them simple, but you really could try with rosemary or pumpkin pureè or whatever takes your fancy in the batter, and you could easily put cheese or sugar and cinnamon inside while rolling them up. Many possibilities open up for you!

Quick Gnocchi

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2007
this recipe is very handy and lets you serve a dish of gnocchi in no time at all. Well, so they are not THE real thing (believe me, I know what I'm talking of, I'm Italian, my mum makes them starting from boiling potatoes an all). But this process is definitely quicker and not so messy!!!

Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2007
just amazing: people will never believe you put these together in a handful of seconds! I used real butter, but I wonder if it's really necessary. Could be very good with something else thrown into the cheese, like fruit or choc chips.

Potato Bread II

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2007
This bread is good and very quick to put together; it comes out fluffy and went very well with a spread made with cream cheese and black olive paste. I tried the loaf, next time il will be the rolls; only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is it does not keep very well.

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2007
A very good one! Left in the fridge overnight, baked in the morning, was a big hit at my office straight from the oven! Only, I would say the icing is way too much (you have lots of sugar inside the rolls, after all) and the cheese is DEFINITELY too much (I put around 3 oz).

Donna's Cheesy Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
It's easy to undestand, also from other reviews, that this quiche is good no matter what yuo put in the crust... I had 3 onions, but only 2 eggs, and provolone instead of mozzarella, and greek yogurth instead of cream...

Perfect Cherry Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2007
Wonderful! The pie was as promised, and the crust is really different, somewhat lighter and less crusty than usual pastry. It comes out as in the picture and is very good chilled and eaten the day after. I used canned cherries.

Fourth of July Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
I think this is a good recipe: I thought I had cedar vinegar but I was mistaken, so balsamic vinegar it had to be... less than stated, as it's very strong and flavourful. The salad was good, came ot beautiful, didn't get rave rewiews, though...

Ultimate Double Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
It's a different cookie, somewhat like a brownie. The recipe is halved with no trouble at all. Good idea to try with white choc, too!

Tender Potato Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2007
that's a keeper indeed: I used plain boiled potatoes just smashed with a fork, they turned out to perfection. I like the idea of adding parmesan cheese, too.

very good pie, fast and easy: you may be able to give broccoli to your kids, too...

Caramel Shortbread Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2007
I agree with other cooks, the bottom shortcake is very crumbly and hard. It tends to stick to the pan anyway and the squares don't cut nicely. BUT, the taste is undeniably good and the recipe is quick enough to put together.

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2007
I agree with other cooks, juice of 2 lemons is not nearly enough. Andi next time I will put some lemon zest, too. Also, be careful not to overbake the crust (when it gets golden it's already late, I'm afraid!). All in all, the need of these changes is the main reason why I gave 4 stars.

Kentucky Biscuits

not bad at all, but I've made better: when they got a little less than piping hot I think they tended to stuck in your throath. maybe I got something wrong...

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: May 22, 2007
A really great recipe! I didn't knead them, with the whole cup of milk they were very sticky. Fortunately I didn't add any more flour, just a bit to place them nicely on the oven sheet without having a lot left on my fingers. They didn't raise very much, I served them hot, with ham and goat cheese: my kids were clamouring for more. My son wanted me to admit there was cheese in the batter, too: he said he could taste it. I bet they are wonderful used like a sweet too. Thanks so much!

Baked Zucchini Squares

Reviewed: May 16, 2007
the batter was good; I was looking for something lighter than fried zucchini sticks and this is certainly so, even if it doesn't resemble zucchini sticks...I cut the zucchini lenghtwise and it was well all the same. All in all, I'll probably do it again.

Strawberry Pie II

Reviewed: May 16, 2007
Tis pie was simple but great, light and refreshing and ready in a flash! I put just a drop of balsamic vinegar into the sauce, and it gave quite the kick it was needed. I had it ready for guests who didn't come after all, so I froze it. Some days later I got it out in the morn and let it in the fridge alla day: it was perfect, I can't imagine what it would have been just eaten fresh!!

Blueberry Potato Cake

Reviewed: May 15, 2007
it was good, nothing special, however: you can do better with so many blueberries. I agree with another cook, it certainly coul do with a icing. Don't know if I'll do it again.

Amish Bread

Reviewed: May 15, 2007
it's a very good white bread: I used it for ham sandwiches and it was much appreciated by my 4-year-old going for end-of-term day trip with playschool. A bit on the sweet side, but I cut back a little on sugar from the start, readind other cooks'comments.
