Baked Orange Roughy Italian-Style

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
Very nice flavors, but too much butter. Next time, I'll take the advice of those who opted to use the butter spray. Thanks for posting this recipe.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2008
The BEST! First time I've ever made a cheesecake with no cracks! Followed others advice about using a water bath. This turned out exceptionally well. Thank you for posting this recipe!

Love these! Make sure you sift the flour so as not to add more than what is called for. Thank you for posting this recipe!

Penne with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
This is one of my favorite recipes on this site. It gets high 5's for ease of preparation and excellent taste. We love mushrooms here, so we pretty much knew this would be a winner. Although simple to make, once plated, it looked 'gourmet'. Thank you so much for posting this recipe; we'll be making this regularly!

Garlic Bread Mama Rita's Way!

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
Very good! I just crushed 2 cloves of garlic and added them to my paste - this was really good and very garlicky. It gave me another reason to use my homemade mayonnaise, also on this site. Loved it! Thank you for posting this recipe!

Ethiopian Cabbage Dish

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
Really really good! Per other's suggestions, I doubled the spices. Easy to throw together, I ate this for dinner last night and was completely satisfied. Thank you for posting this recipe!

Whole Egg Mayonnaise

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
How neat! Ran out of mayo and I just knew I'd be able to find a recipe here. This would be a great "project" to involve the kids in - to watch how it comes together. Next time, I'll decrease the amount of mustard powder, but other than that, very easy recipe! Thank you for posting!

Italian Bread Bowls

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
OK recipe as it serves its purpose; bowls rose nicely, but taste gets a zero.

Shrimp Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
Unfortunately, this was a disappointment and a waste of shrimp. Extremely bland even with adding a lot of Old Bay. Either reduce the amount of flour or don't mash some of the potatoes - it was too thick. Thank you for letting me try.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
Good sugar cookie - only change I made was to increase/double the vanilla as suggested by other reviewers. I rolled them out fairly thick so I had to bake them a little longer. The best part is that they stay nice and soft for some time if kept in an airtight container. Thank you for posting this recipe!

Oatmeal Cookie Mix II

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
I knew AR would come to my rescue! I used this as a base for a pumpkin cheesecake streusel bar recipe that called for a packaged oatmeal cookie mix and it didn't disappoint. Thank you for posting this recipe!

Wine Jelly

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
This is a great recipe for first time jelly makers like me. I was so afraid I was going to screw this up somehow, but the end result was just as I hoped. I used a combination of white zin and another white wine that I wasn't fond of and it came out great - there's just a touch of wine taste - not overpowering at all; very pleasant. Thank you for posting!

Cheesy Onion Focaccia

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
This is EXCELLENT! I'll be using this recipe frequently - followed it exactly with exception of sauteeing onions first, then adding the garlic about halfway through. The dough was one of the easiest I've handled and the end result was picture perfect - exactly what I had imagined and hoped for. There are so many possibilities with this recipe! We're going to use it as our base for pizza next time. I especially loved the addition of Italian seasoning to the onion/garlic mixture at the end. Wonderful recipe, thank you so much for posting!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
This is worthy of 10 stars! Only changes were to add garlic powder and to chop the onions instead of slicing them into rings. Oh, and I added a small amount of Velveeta cheese, not that the sauce wasn't cheesy enough, just experimenting, I guess. Thank you for a fabulous side!

Easy Focaccia

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
It's time to start trying some of the recipes I keep saving to my recipe box and this one didn't disappoint. I did need to add close to a 1/2 cup of flour to the dough. After reading reviews, I happened on one written by GRANNYLOOHOO who sauteed some onions to drizzle on top of the dough; I followed in her footsteps and they were an excellent addition, so thank you for that tip! This is great served fresh out of the oven, sprinkled with a little garlic salt. Thank you for posting this recipe!

Spicy African Yam Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
Excellent and so easy to throw together. I used black beans in exchange for garbanzo beans and crunchy peanut butter instead of smooth - the nuts were a great addition. Since I'm vegetarian, I used veggie broth instead of chicken and thickened it up by using my hand held blender. Fantastic soup! Thank you for posting this recipe!

Whoopie Pies VIII

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
These are sooooo good. The 'pie' part is incredibly moist and delicious; while I liked the cream filling, I think I'll cut back on the sugar next time as they were a little bit too sweet for me. Took the advice of other reviewers who suggested refrigerating/freezing them - this helped cut the sweetness after they had been allowed to chill for several hours. Will definitely make them again; Thank you for posting this recipe!

Russian Mushroom and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
Great fall/winter soup and easy to throw together. I almost opted to reduce the dill but went with the full amount and am so glad I did. It's an essential ingredient to this recipe. I also added, as I always do, about 1 t of Worcestershire sauce to the mushrooms as I sauteed them. Nice and hardy. Thank you for posting this recipe!
