Crusty White Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
This produced a nice crust and a soft, melt in your mouth interior. As with many others, I found I had to add more flour since it was very difficult to handle with just the 6 cups stated in the recipe. Once I added enough, it was great to work with. I should have taken a picture before I bagged the loaves - beautiful rise, nice and tall, perfect for sandwiches. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Great bread - Love all the seeds! My second rise was much longer in order to produce a sandwich sized loaf. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Potato Chips

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
Pretty neat! Of course, they're eaten just as soon as they come out of the microwave! They do take a little longer than 3-5 minutes, but who cares? This was fun to do. We sliced our second batch slightly thicker - those were better yet! Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Shrimp with Penne and Squash

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
This is amazing! I loved how light and fresh this tasted. The lemon, herbs and garlic all blended so wonderfully together. I added red pepper flakes to create some heat. This was so so good! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Blue Ribbon White Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2009
Pretty good; I like that it makes 2 loaves. I didn't bother with the water and it still came out fine. I like the texture - I do enjoy some of the other bread recipes I've tried better, though. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
Oh my... I had a feeling this was going to be good, and it certainly exceeded my expectations. I had no problem getting the sauce to thicken up; I think the key is slowly adding the cheese and egg yolk. I used 4 oz. cream and 4 oz. half and half and a combination of Parmesan and Italian blend cheeses. To make this a little "heartier", I sauteed some mushrooms and garlic and added those to the sauce before serving over fettuccine noodles. Sooo good! I wouldn't want this everyday due to its high fat/caloric content, but every once in awhile, it's nice to treat yourself. Thank you so very much for a wonderful recipe!

Veggie Stir-Fry

I'll pass on making this again . My own fault since I read the reviews that suggested adding red pepper flakes and ginger and I forgot! Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Easy Refrigerator Pickles

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
Super easy and super delish! I used 2 1/2 t. pickling spice in place of the spices listed. And, since they looked so pretty in Suz's photo, I scored the cukes before slicing. Thank you for the neat idea! And, thank you for sharing this recipe!

Dill Vinaigrette

Yummy and very fresh tasting! Only change was to reduce amount of sugar, as recommended by other reviewers. (thanks for suggesting that...)It's just what I wanted to use on my home grown cukes! Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Exchange Gang Pasta with Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2009
Very tasty, and actually quite easy to whip up. This came together quickly which allowed me to have dinner on the table in no time. I think next time, I'll use fire roasted tomatoes to create a little more liquid. Maybe even roast my own fresh tomatoes; yum! I also like the suggestion of red pepper flakes by some of the previous reviewers. Thanks for creating and sharing this recipe!

Baked Lemon Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
Good, but somewhat bland without a little doctoring. Definitely needs salt to bring out the lemon flavor. Would also add more garlic. This would be nice with shrimp and/or mushrooms.

Pizzelles IV

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2009
These were a breeze to make in my recent vintage find, a Rival Pizzelle and Waffle Maker. Recipe made exactly 18. Thought I had anise extract, but had to sub cinnamon extract in its place. Nice sub, but will definitely make these with the anise flavor they're so well known for. Thank you for sharing this recipe; I know what I'll be making this Christmas!

Italian Amaretto Margaritas On the Rocks

This doesn't scale down well - I was hardly able to taste the alcohol. Overpowered by the sweet and sour mix. Thanks for letting me try.

Vanilla Cherry Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
I had high hopes for this recipe and it did not disappoint. Only change was to reduce amount of almond extract to 1/4 tsp. For me, that was perfect. It really works best to quarter the cherries and add them during the last few minutes so as not to have them all sink to the bottom. This is decadent and refreshing. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

French Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
Quite yummy indeed. I used a recent "vintage" find, my Pyrex Bake A Round, to make this loaf and it was great. Looked like the loaves you buy at the bakery, but tasted better. One reviewer recommended adding 1 T of olive oil, which I did, with great results. Thank you for sharing this recipe!

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
Outrageously good! I'll use this recipe for my WW bread. It knocks the top rated store bought WW bread out of the competition. Thank you, MommyFromSeattle for many of your suggestions; I used 1/3 cup honey and 1/3 cup sugar and added 4T vital wheat gluten. I also opted to bake 2 loaves instead of 3 and this produced nice tall sandwich sized bread. 25 minutes is perfect; this has such a soft texture. Thanks for letting me try this excellent recipe! EDIT 6/29/09: I would go with baking for 30 minutes as today, when I cut into the middle of the loaf, it was slightly underbaked.
