Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
This fudge is fantastic! I made it without the nuts and it was rich and chocolaty. I would suggest boiling on a heat lower than high, so that the mixture doesn't burn. This will in turn make the heating time longer, maybe 7 minutes as others have said. Will make again!

Chocolate Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
Wonderful muffins! They are moist and chocolaty, they taste a bit like cupcakes. They're also great with whipped cream. I used 1 cup of chocolate chips because they needed more, and replaced half of the flour with whole wheat flour and 1/3 sugar with splenda to make them healthier. Great recipe!

Chocolate Hazelnut Fruit Crepes

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2012
Wonderful crepes! Chocolate hazelnut with the fruit and slightly crispy crepe creates an unforgettable taste. I used store- bought crepes- which I'm sure are less good to homemade ones, but still taste good nonetheless- and filled them with bananas with strawberries. I found the medium heat was too high to heat for 90 seconds, I think medium low might work better. Wonderful recipe!

Cherry Kisses

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2012
This is a great recipe. These are very light , crispy, and sweet! Since I couldn't find candied cherries (maybe I have to candy them myself?) and I didn't want prunes or nuts then I made them plain. I let them cool and them added a cherry filling to make macaroons. Those were hard to eat and very sweet! I would recommend making this recipe with the walnuts and cherries, using a dark pan, and piping them out with a plastic bag in small portions, because they do get bigger! These are perfect for a tea party or just a light treat. Thanks for the recipe!

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2012
Great tasting french toast! It has just the right amount of cinnamon. It tastes great with syrup or powdered sugar. I would recommend cooking the slices until they're all brown to make sure they're cooked all the way. A keeper!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2012
Wonderful recipe! It tasted delicious. This was my first time making cheesecake, and I messed a few things up. First, I didn't realize that a graham cracker was one SQUARE, not one rectangle- I crushed double the amount of crackers and didn't realize it until it was already in the pan, so I just removed half and added more butter to try to make up for the lost. Then, the cream cheese wasn't room temperature yet- it was still a little cold. This made my batter a bit lumpy. Lastly, when baking, I accidentally turned the oven off for a few minutes without realizing it, but I'm not sure this changed anything. I would reccommend avoiding these mistakes, and not even checking to see if the cake looks finished after an hour, since it doesn't get golden or look done. You can serve this with chocolate syrup on top, cherry pie filling, strawberry sauce or whatever filling you want. A delicious, moist cheesecake.

Cinnamon Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2012
Great waffles! I love the cinnamon, they're light and taste almost like french toast, a nice twist on classic waffles. My batter was lumpy, but I think that s how it is supposed to be. I cooked mine in a standard size waffle maker until the smoke stopped and they were perfect. I made 4 1/2 waffles. Great recipe, will make again!

Chocolate Fudge Pops

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2012
Awesome pops! They were fudgy and delicious. I added 1 cup cool whip to the pudding mixture, as some others suggested. There were still some lumps in it but I think it was fine. All the "kids" I gave them to loved the taste and texture, perfect for a hot summer day when you're craving chocolate!

Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2012
Wonderful fondant! Much easier than other recipes I've seen and turned out beautifully. I decorated four mini cakes for a tea party and they were adorable. This fondant really requires a lot of powdered sugar, maybe more than is mentioned. The dough is ready when it it elastic- like and won't stick to your hand.

Butternut Squash Soup II

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2012
A flavorful and rich soup. The squash was hard to prepare, maybe it wasn't ripe enough yet. I used chicken broth, which has the same effect as chicken stock. I blended it up in a blender until smooth. It was the perfect way to use butternut squash!

A nice, fresh tasting salad. I halved this recipe, using three large cucumbers and half of a medium onion and green pepper. Good salad for parties!

Country Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2012
This bread it awesome! It was crisp, light, and coffee cake- like. I didn't have any buttermilk so I added a tablespoon of lemon juice (vinegar would work too) to a cup of milk. I also added the butter/sugar/cinnamon topping that some other reviewers suggested and added some cinnamon to the dry ingredients. The bread was done in 49 minutes and looks like a dainty cake when finished. Don't let the serving size fool you, it only served 6 for me! Delicious, will make this again!

Mall Pretzels

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2012
"These are next to heavenly!", exclaimed one of my tasters when they tried these. They were light and delicious. I made some with kosher salt and some with cinnamon sugar; both ways are good. I didn't have any bread flour, so I used regular flour and it worked fine. I also used greased aluminum foil instead of parchment paper. I should have listened to the editor's note about rolling out the dough; mine were a bit thick. I could fit three pretzels on one tray so I only had to use four. Everyone liked these pretzels, they were called "the best pretzels ever!".

Easy Chocolate Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
I love this ice cream. I make this recipe with half the sweetened condensed milk; combining all three ingredients and then beating with a mixer. I also put in a 9 by 9 pan and freezing overnight (in an ordinary freezer). Still, its great ice cream any way you make it!

Classic Waffles

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
This is a great waffle! It has a light, fluffy texture and tastes wonderful with some syrup, fruit or powdered sugar on top. The cooking time depends on your waffle iron, but mine cooked the waffles in about 2 1/2 minutes. This recipe is a definite keeper.

Morning Glory Muffins I

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2012
These were tasty muffins. The carrots and apples really flavored them. Grating the carrots would take a while, so I recomend putting them through a food processor, buying pre- grated carrots, or blending them in small batches with a bit of water added, straining them, and then reducing the oil in the recipe. Its important to cut the apples into small pieces. I think the topping needed more walnuts in it also. My muffins were done after about 19 minutes and came out very moist. A great nutritious recipe.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2012
These muffins are lovely! They were delicious, heavy and sweet, almost like coffee cake. They come out best using fresh, ripe blueberries. I doubled the recipe and made 15 good sized muffins, topped with chef Joy's variation. I will remember to spray the whole pan better next time I make these (and I definitely will!), because they were a bit of a mess to get out. Great recipe, thanks Colleen!

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Tasty banana flavor! It made 12 pretty big muffins. I think they might have been improved with a few more chocolate chips, but the original recipe is great. I will definitely make these again!

Seminary Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2012
A hearty breakfast muffin, really delicious! I made them with oatmeal oats and omitted the nuts. I also would have reduced the salt for my taste. This made 11 tasty and healthy muffins that my whole family liked. Could anyone figure out why they were named Seminary? A great start to any day!
