Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
Not that this recipe needs another review, but I can't help myself. These cookies are so good! Completely differnt texture than any of my other cookie recipes. And I love the vanilla taste. I did follow a reviewer's suggestion and added a 1 tsp baking powder (made half a recipe as there are only two of us) and a scant Tbl of vanilla. Will do both again next time.

Creamiest Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
This was so very good. Absolutely wonderful! I did temper the egg mixture with some of the milk mixture before putting them together. Otherwise followed the recipe exactly. If you like rice pudding, you will love this!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
This was just OK for me. I like my lasagna cheesier and gooier I think. I also wish that I had put more layers in than the recipe called for. All in all, I think that I will try a different recipe the next time that I make lasagna.

Bar Stool Pretzels

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
I don't know how my experience could have been so different than so many other reviewers. I thought that I would love these. Followed directions exactly except that I mixed the ingredients together in a bag first as many reviewers suggested. After only about 40 minutes of cooking these looked like they were burning. After taking them out and cooling, they tasted dreadful. Burned and bitter. Sorry. We will not make these again.

So Good!!! The meat was cooked perfectly and very moist. The sauce was fabulous. I will make this one often. Thanks, J. Miller!

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: May 13, 2007
These were good, but very runny. If I try again, I will halve the sour cream and the milk.

Buttermilk Coleslaw

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2007
This may be my favorite coleslaw recipe ever and I have tried LOTS of different recipes. I did think that it needed a touch of salt. Next time I will try adding caraway seed as I also like that in coleslaw. Really good just as is, however!

Honey Mustard BBQ Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2007
Sorry, but we did not like this. Seemed like the vinegar overwhelmed the other ingredients. Gave the chops a kind of sour taste. We won't be making this again.

Blueberry Cream Muffins

Wonderful muffin! Lightly crunchy crust and soft, wonderful inside. The sour cream really gives this muffin a unique taste. It's a keeper!

Apricot Baked Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2007
I made this for our Christmas brunch and am making it again today for Easter. This will be my ham recipe from now on. Great flavor and so moist. I did tent the ham with foil and added water/orange juice to the bottom of the pan as mentioned in several of the reviews. Thanks so much for a wonderful recipe!

Homemade Chicken A La King

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2007
Given the great reviews and the combination of ingredients, I thought we would love this. We didn't. I can't believe, given all of ingredients that it includes, how little taste this dish had. Not worth the effort, I am afraid. We won't make again. Sorry!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2007
I am trying to lose weight, so took the advice of one of the reviewers and substituted yogurt for the butter in this recipe. Came out with a very strange spongy texture that I think was probably the yogurt's impact. I wouldn't make these again that way, but will try again using the original recipe and review it again as written. I JUST MADE THESE AGAIN AS WRITTEN. MUCH BETTER. WILL DEFINATELY MAKE THEM THIS WAY AGAIN.

Tumbleweeds

This is a favorite holiday treat at our house. We use a can of chow mein noodles rather than the potatoe sticks. Really wonderful that way too!

Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
Perfect Focacia! I've made many other attempts and have never been happy with the results. This recipe is wonderful! I did have to let the bread rise for much longer than called for - perhaps 40 minutes. I also poked holes in the top of the bread; sprinkled top with dried rosemary, drizzled olive oil over the top and then sprinkled with grated parmesan cheese. Bread's texture was out of this world.

Excellent Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
The name says it all. I hope that I never bother with another oatmeal cookie recipe again. I have made these with regular oats when out of quick and it worked fine. Have added chocolate chips and raisins and both were wonderful. These are crip on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Really wonderful!

Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2007
I was very disappointed with this recipe. The marinade added a sort of strange flavor to the meat. The apple jelly sauce sounded like it would be flavorful and sweet, but was tasteless and very runny. I made this for company and was very sorry that I did. Given all of the other great reviews, perhaps I did something wrong. Followed the recipe exactly though.

Thai Peanut Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2006
This was really wonderful. I cut the chicken ingredients in half as there were only two of us. I left the sauce recipe as is, however, and was glad that I did. Would not have had enough sauce if I had cut that in half as well. I also added a bit of molasses to the sauce as I felt it needed a bit more sweetness. Also added a splash of sesame oil to the sauce for flavor. Will definately do both again when I make it again.

Potato Chip Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
While definately not one of the healthiest recipe that I have made in some time, this was exactly the kind of comfort food that I was craving. I did use low fat soup and used one can of Cream of Chicken and another of Cream of Celery. Also cut the mayo in half and used low fat instead of regular. I also followed another reviewer's advice and doubled the rice. One cup would definately not have been enough. Next time I will use fewer water chestnuts and will chop them up. They sort of overwhelmed the recipe. With some tweeking, I will make this one again.
