Chinese Breakfast Bars

In China, there are many kinds of breakfast. The busy people who are on their way to work or school always go to the breakfast bars to buy their breakfast. When I was young, mom often made breakfast for me, so I have few chance to eat at those breakfast bars.

Everytime when I come out early in the morning, I will pass those steamed meat or vegetable bun shops, the sugar cakes bars, the Chinese torilla bars, the fried pancake shops, the fried pancake with the Chinese chive fillings and the soybean shops. Some Chinese desserts are tasted sweet but some are salty. You could choose what you like.

The steamed meat or vegetable bun are like the dumplings but there is a little different. They are made of rotundity and stuffed with minced meat or vegtables.

The sugar cakes is a common dessert in China. It is made of paste. Spreading a paste in your hand and put some sugar in the center and then wrap up the paste. The last step is to put the wrapped paste in the hot oil for two minutes and then get it out to make it cool.

The fried pancake are just pancake fry in the oil and it smelled very nice.

The fried pancake with the Chinese chive fillings is also made of the paste and stuffed with the Chinese chive and before you want to try it, it will be put into the hot oil to fry.

The Chinese torilla are something like the Mexico taco. Put the pancake into a pan to keep its tempreature and then put the shredded kelp, the tofu skin, the deep-fried  dough sticks, the bean sprout, the shredded potatos and the spiced corned egg in the center of the pancake. Then just roll it up.

Except for those desserts, the most popular soup for the breakfast in my home town is the chicken soup. It is salty and put the minced caraway and one egg in it.

Certainly they are not all the Chinese breakfast but they are very normal in every Chinese city. If you come to China and you could wake up early, you should better have a try and don't miss them.

Great breakfast blog! We just arrived back from a tour of China last week. We always had breakfast at the hotels but it was a combination of eastern and western. I really liked the fried dough and noodle dishes that was served in the mornings. We enjoyed the Grand Canal tour of Suzhou, the lingering gardens, Tiger Hill and staying at the ultra nice Metropark Hotel.
