Yesterday my cousin invited some friends and family over to his place for lunch. Although I didn't make it in time to accompany him to the market, where he bought tons of super fresh ingredients, I did make it in time to help cook. The menu included a
pineapple and jicama salad, shrimp ceviche, poblano peppers filled with huitlacoche and corn, figs drizzled with caramel ice cream, and lots of mescal and wine. It was a lovely afternoon, with friends coming and going throughout and really interesting conversations.
Events like these remind me of the importance of the people you surround yourself with, and make me regret not living closer to my family.
