Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins I

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2007
All in all, a decent muffin. They definitely need the lemon juice/sugar poured over them.... I cannot stress this enough. It turned a bland, dry muffin into one worth eating. I took the advice of others and only used 2Tbsp of poppy seeds. It was plenty. Thanks for the recipe!

Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2004
I chose to make this recipe because of it's high ratings. The cookies are okay but definately not spectacular. I love the original Toll House chocolate chip cookie recipe so I thought this would be equally as good. They are definately edible but I will look for another double chocolate chip cookie recipe next time.

Empire Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2004
I've always loved these cookies but had never made them before - much easier than they look. I used a bit more jam and almond extract than called for and made the cookies smaller. This is definately a cookie that impresses people; they are so pretty. One other tip: use seedless jam.

Candied Carrots

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2004
These taste really good but I wish the glaze turned out a bit thicker. I'll try a touch of corn starch next time so the yummy glaze sticks to the carrots and doesn't get wasted sitting in the bottom of a bowl. Anyone have any other suggestions on how to thicken this glaze?

Cranberry Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2004
Made this for my dad for father's day and it was a hit. I followed the advice of others and used brown sugar instead of white. I also used whole cranberry sauce and cranberry-rasperry juice. The roast I bought was very lean so I was able to make 4 cups of this wonderful gravy. I did not, however, care for the gravy on my potatoes...too sweet. It's fab on the pork though.

Gingersnaps III

Love these cookies. They smell and taste soooo good. I substituted becel margarine for the shortening and they turned out perfectly. Love how the sugar makes them sparkle!

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2004
I like this recipe because it uses olive oil instead of butter. I've made them using white chocolate chips or almonds instead of the pistachios. They turned out really well. I've also added cocoa to the recipe which also made for a nice biscotti.

Thunderbird Stew

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2004
This was as equally good as it was simple. I went with the advice of many and used a bit of cornstarch to thicken the sauce. I served it over jasmine rice to my meat-loving boyfriend who gave it a 10 out of 10.

Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2004
These are better than any store bought version you will ever find. I use a pan that is larger because the 9x13 tends to "squish" the buns. If you're going to eat a cinnamon bun it might as well be a big one. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing.

Cinnamon Raisin Pinwheels

Reviewed: May 25, 2004
These are so yummy and really easy to make. I always feel guilty eating cinnamon buns but these are about a quarter of the size of the regular kind. That way I only feel a quarter of the guilt and they definately cure the craving.
