About this Cook
Hi, my name is Tina. I am a mother of 2 girls (16 & 21) and 1 grand-daughter (2 yrs). Nearly all of my family is girls and women except for the men who "marry in". Yet, I am the only one who loves to cook. I love to cook but, love to hear that people like what I have made even more. I tell people if they don't like something.... lie...
My favorite things to cook
I like to make unusual things from everyday food. I am always looking for new ways to cook staple foods besides fried chicken and fried pork chops. I am from Texas where almost everything is fried so, I love finding different ways to cook things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The only tradition I can think of is at thanksgiving when I have everyone who is coming give me 1 request that they want me to make and I make everyone's requested dishes.
My cooking triumphs
I pull off thanksgiving every year for about 13 people all by myself with only 1 oven and 1 convection oven. I consider that a triumph! LOL
My cooking tragedies
Mainly my cooking tragedies are recipes that I have never made before that SEEM like they would taste good but don't! When I make dishes like this for supper, everyone looks forward to going out to eat! LOL

Spicy Garlic Salmon
I am not a big fan of salmon but, this was so good and tasty, I can now add salmon to my diet.

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup
Wow! This soup was so delicious! I'm sorry, I did use chicken broth instead of vegetable because, I didn't have vegetable but, I feel like I could almost mix this combination of ingredients with water and, it would be good! I actually used measuring spoons while making this and, the combination of the herbs and spices are just AWESOME!

Baked Kale Chips
I have a suggestion for people who do not like vegetables, like myself. Just TRY this! I seriously worry about my health because, there are extremely few vegetables that I like. This is a super food and, I looked it up, baked kale retains it's nutrients! Yay! After reading about kale's nutrients, I thought this MIGHT be a way I can actually eat it. And it was DELICIOUS! It really doesn't need anything else except for whats in the recipe but, I may experiment with this superfood now. I still don't have the courage to try raw kale, tho. I can tell by looking at it that I won't like it! LOL Also, it's important to not get any stems! They taste bad!
