About this Cook
I am a cook who was formed by necessity. I've never thrown away good food. Everything in my home is used. That goal has taught me to use what I have, and create some really good food in the goal. My boyfriend says he likes my spaghetti the best, and especially because he never knows what will be in it that needs to be used up in the frig. He says he likes the variety and blend of spices and textures. I have been using ground turkey in my spaghetti for about 20 years because of health concerns, and I have only ever received rave reviews by all who have partaken, and it is frequently requested by even the neighbors :>D
My favorite things to cook
Soups, stews, chili. Anything with Pasta. Sandwiches. Cupcakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cookies at Christmas. Cupcakes at Halloween and Easter too! Cold cakes and pies in summer.
My cooking triumphs
Standing crown rib roast that turned out succulent and made my guests want more than we actually prepared. :>D
My cooking tragedies
One pot pasta meal that burned and smelled up my Mom's entire kitchen. Since I'm 50 now, this was a very long time ago :>D

Spicy Spaghetti Squash
Way too much red pepper flakes. Why not bring them to the table, instead, and let those who care to partake in them sprinkle them on instead. If I'm using the oven anyway, I roast about 6 to 8 cloves of garlic sprinkled heavily with red pepper flakes in small ramekins and serve them on a lazy susan in the middle of the table along with other condiments. My boyfriend just loves 'spicy' on his spaghetti type dishes, but I recognize that not everyone does, so this works quite well and if someone wants just a small taste, they can! :>D

Frosty Strawberry Squares
This was very easy. Only thing I did differently was to add some rhubarb which I had cooked down a little first, with the strawberries. Have to use all that is growing in the garden :>D. Very satisfying on a hot summer night! Thank you!

Tomato Basil Pasta
I added chopped italian parsley (from my garden) and you could saute' vidalia onions and the basil and italian parsley with and sugar snap peas and some finely sliced zucchini (I used my mandolin) it really enhances the flavor and the texture. I added a splash of balsamic vinegar too. Yummy! I find my garden the creator of most of my summer meals. Throw items in that are ready to be picked and viola! you have a new dish. Its been a hot summer, so it's nice to have some cold leftovers that are ready to munch. I doubled the recipe so I could have more refrigerated and ready after a long day and commute. Thank you Angela! :>D
