Garlic Prime Rib

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2006
Very good!! I personally think that an instant read digital thermometer is key to making a perfect prime rib. I cooked a 5 pound prime rib and used the same amount of mixture ingredients as a 10 pound roast calls for. I followed other reviews and cooked at 460 for 12 minutes, 400 for 8 minutes & 325 for the remainder. I cooked it for 20-25 minutes a pound and took out of the oven when the internal temperature hit 125. I covered it in aluminum foil and let sit for about 10-20 minutes, until the internal temperature was about 135. It was a perfect medium rare.

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
Excellent chicken noodle soup recipe. Very easy and has a homemade taste. I did not cook the chicken first. I simmered it in the broth with the vegetables for more flavor. Used frozen egg noodles and added garlic. Also added two cans of condensed cream of chicken soup for a creamier soup. I would recommend tasting it before adding salt, it may not be necessary to add salt if not using low sodium chicken broth.

A tasty punch recipe that isn't loaded with a ton of sugar. The almond extract adds a nice flavor.

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
My new favorite turkey recipe!! So moist and flavorful. I usually cook my turkey breast down so that it is extra moist but I didn't find it necessary with this recipe. I also put several pats of butter under the skin with the rosemary mixture. Filled the bottom of the pan with chicken broth instead of water. I threw a couple of sprigs of rosemary in the cavity of the turkey and in the broth in the bottom of the pan. It is important to use fresh rosemary & basil. Covered with foil & basted with the juice in the bottom of the pan every hour. Removed foil the last 30-40 minutes so that the turkey could brown. After removing the turkey from the over, cover tightly with foil (usually throw a few towels over the foil to keep the heat in) and let sit for 30 minutes before carving so juices can redistribute.

Carmel's Crunchy Pea Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2005
This is a good pea salad recipe. I added a couple of hard-boiled eggs, cubed cheese and chopped pickles. I did not have any cashews on hand so I did not use them but next time I will try adding the cashews.

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2012
Followed the recipe exactly and thought it was delicious. Removed the roast from the crock pot at the end and added some corn starch to thicken the tangy sauce and then spooned the thickened sauce over the pork to serve.

Apple Orchard Punch

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
Everybody loved this. The thing I liked the most about this recipe is that it isn't loaded with a ton of sugar and is not as sweet as some punch recipes tend to be. It is very quick and easy. I floated sliced oranges on top but I think frozen cranberries, as other reviews suggested, would look nice.

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2005
The absolute best macaroni salad recipe I have ever found. I am not a big macaroni salad fan but I find myself craving this recipe. I also used half Hellmans & half Miracle Whip. Used 1/4 cup sugar and added cubed cheese.

Cold Veggie Squares

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
Great! I always get asked for the recipe when I take this somewhere. I skip the basil and garlic powder and just use a package of Ranch dressing mix. I use anywhere from 2 tablespoons to the whole package of Ranch mix. Cover with your favorite veggies. I usually use broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, red pepper and tomatoes.

New Red Potato Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
A bit bland for my tastes but a good basic recipe for when you are serving a group people and aren't quite sure what their tastes are. It is also looks nice on the plate. I crumbled some bacon into the salad. Next time I will add a squirt of spicy mustard. I think it will give it a nice kick.

Three Cheese Garlic Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
Maybe I was just expecting to much because of all of the great reviews but I was extremely disappointed in this recipe. I did not care for the taste and all of the cheese made it quite greasy. As other reviews mentioned, it took much longer than the recommended cooking time.

Orange Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
A nice side dish. I dissolved corn starch in water and added to the carrots right before removing from the stove to thicken up the sauce. Sprinkled with allspice and served. UPDATE: Changed this recipe from 4 stars to 5 stars because everytime I serve this people just rave over it. And it is so easy!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
This was a great meal for a cold winter day. I wouldn't serve it to dinner guests but it was good for a family meal. Followed rach747's suggestion and covered with a can of chicken broth. Do not use water as it will just dilute the flavor. Added the biscuit dough 90-120 minutes before serving. Cook on high after adding the dough. I also agree with rach747, do not cook w/veggies because it changes the flavor of the dumplings. I like veggies in mine so I cooked the veggies (peas & carrots) separately and then stirred in right before serving. This worked good because my husband doesn't like veggies in his so I was able to add them just to what I was eating.

Chicken Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
This is a quick and easy casserole. I think I will add it to my list of comfort foods! I sauteed some chopped onion and celery until tender and stirred in before baking. I also added frozen peas & carrots before baking. I probably won't make it often but it was tasty. I will try cutting way back on the butter next time I make it.

Shredded Beef Chimichangas

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
This was just ok; don't think I would make it again. It is missing something but I'm not sure what. I ended up adding 1/2 of a burrito seasoning packet before serving to add a little flavor.

Excellent spanish rice recipe! I increased the chicken broth to 2 1/2 cups and added corn. Like others mentioned, be sure and bring to a boil before covering and reducing heat.

Special Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
Still looking for the perfect deviled egg recipe but this was decent. The horseradish is a nice touch. As others mentioned, the filling turned out kind of runny. Might try less sweet relish next time.
