Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
I don't know what happened, but it didn't turn out like it was supposed to. It was all goopy & the rices didn't cook all the way. I'll just keep buying it in the store.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2010
This was fabulous! Simple to put together & very tasty. I did make a few changes, though. Instead of the fresh veggies, I used frozen mixed veggies. I added them to the chicken & water about 8 minutes into the boiling proccess. I didn't want the veggies to get soggy by adding them too early. I also added 1T minced garlic to the melted butter & onions. Other than those few changes, I followed the recipe to the tee. The pot pie turned out beautifully. My husband & his friend ate most of it in one sitting. Leaving me a very small portion. Good thing I don't eat a lot!

White Bean 'n' Ham Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
We enjoyed this dish very much... once I tweaked it to our taste. I added minced garlic & ham hocks to the soup & let it simmer for about 2 hours. This made it much more flavorful.

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
One of my fave pork recipes. To make a really good paste, try using a mortar & pestle. It will grind everything smooth & combine the herbs with the oil better.

Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Crunch Coating

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
This is one of my husband's fave salmon recipes. He just loves the crunch of the pecans with the flakiness of the salmon. I'm not a big pecan person so I just omit them when preparing my fillet. Very tasty.

Pan-Fried Asparagus

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
OMGosh! We love these asparagus. My only suggestion is to make these just before you're going to serve your meal because if they wilt they tend to be very greasy.

Japanese Style Deep Fried Shrimp

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Absolutely fabulous! I used smoked paprika cuz that's what I had on hand. The Panko makes all the difference so if you don't have any, don't bother to make these shrimp.

Quick Chinese-Style Vermicelli (Rice Noodles)

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Maybe I didn't have a wok big enough, but the noodles didn't turn out like they should have. I have to add more oil in order to coat all of the noodles. This, of course, made everything greasy. I won't be making this again.

Oatmeal and Wheat Flour Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
While I really liked these pancakes, my husband wasn't impressed. I think it's because they are very dense. I will make them again, but next time I'll make a fresh blueberry syrup to top them off.

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
I've tried quite a few sweet potato casserole recipes & this one is, by far, the best. Another keeper for my holiday menus.

Cherry Ham Glaze

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
A definite keeper! I once bought a ham w/ a packet of cherry glaze,; while it was very good, it wasn't nearly as good as this glaze. I think it's the actual cherries that make the difference This is going to be a Christmas staple in my family for years to come.

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
I'm giving this 4 stars only because, for some reason, the chops were tender but dry. Next time I'm going to only slow cook it for half of the time & see what happens.

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
I was expecting something a bit more flavorful when I read the ingredients. Next time I make this, I'll do it with salmon to see if it turns out better. I think I will take the suggestions of another reviewer & saute the garlic first. The butter sauce was very tasty when mixed with rice pilaf. lol

Cajun Dirty Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
This is NOT Dirty Rice; it's more of a Red Beans & Rice dish. Dirty Rice doesn't have beans in it. With that being said, we liked this dish. I will make it again.

Fried Rice I

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
I followed the recipe exactly as it was written, but it didn't turn out right. It was very sticky & gummy; strange, I know. The flavor was good, but the consistency left much to be desired.

Orange Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
These carrots are fantastic & I'm not a big fan of cooked carrots. I did make the glaze a different way because it wasn't very easy as directed. I cooked the carrots & drained first as directed. Then I set them aside while I made the glaze in a separate pan. Then I added the carrots to that pan & stirred & simmered as directed.Very yummy.

Scottish Shortbread IV

These cookies were very tasty. I am no good at rolling out dough so I wasn't sure this was going to work for me, but it did. I will be making these again come Christmastime.

We didn't like this at all. The Manwich canned sloppy joe stuff is much better.
