I love to cook! I have been told that I have missed my calling. I make 99% of my recipes from scratch. My husband and I were craving chocolate cake one night. We were both too lazy and didn't want to leave the house to go buy a cake mix with frosting. So I found a recipe and whipped up a chocolate cake complete with frosting. A little butter, flour, sugar and baking cocoa. Voila! We had a cake.
My favorite things to cook
I have several "no bake" desserts that I make and are fabulous. I love to make my grandmother's baked spaghetti...fantastic. I also make great soups, stews, and chilli from scratch.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I cook very differently than my mother did. She didn't know how to use spices and I have taught myself how to use them. However, I love making Thanksgiving dinner and so did she. I do make some of the recipes that she made while we were growing up but I make them with my own little flair.
My cooking triumphs
Making Callah bread from scratch. Did pretty good with it the first time out.
My cooking tragedies
Raw fried chicken. Learned to use smaller chicken pieces. Also used a fast cooking pot once for home made spaghetti sauce. The sauce burned and it was a disaster.
