Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2011
I followed the recipe exactly. It was pretty good, but I thought it was a little dry. Could it have been because I used low-fat cream cheese? Since it was so easy to make, I may try it again with regular cream cheese to see if that makes a difference.

Chicken Piccata with Artichoke Hearts

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2011
I'm sorry to rate this recipe so low, especially with all the other good reviews, but it was sooo bland I just can't justify any more than 3 stars. I followed the recipe exactly. After our first couple of bites, my husband and I both were seaching the kitchen for something to put on the dish to flavor it up a little. Maybe this is how chicken piccata is supposed to be, but if you're like my family, and prefer dishes with extreme flavor, you will be disappointed with this recipe.

Chicken with Lemon Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
This was very good. My husband said it was perfect, but I thought it could use more lemony flavor. That may have been because I used bottled lemon juice instead of fresh. Other than that, I followed the recipe. Next time I will use fresh lemon. Since my husband said it was perfect, and since I fudged on the lemon juice, I decided this recipe deserved 5 stars instead of the 4 that I was leaning toward.

Fasolatha

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2011
Delicious the first time around...even better after sitting over night. I used canned white kidney beans. Didn't have fresh parsley so I used dried. Other than those two changes, I made it according to the recipe. Served it over rice. I will definitely make it again...the same way I did this time.

Pretty Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
WOW! If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. I didn't have low-sodium soy sauce, so I used regular soy sauce and halved the quantity from 2/3 cup to 1/3 cup. I have put low-sodium soy sauce on my grocery list, though, to keep on hand just for this recipe. I didn't have spicy brown mustard so I used dijon. This recipe actually made a little more marinade than I really needed for 3 breast halves (that's what always comes in a package in this part of the country), so I may make a little less next time. This is the first time I have ever used liquid smoke. I'm a fan!

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
Love it! Followed recipe exactly. No need to cover the chicken as long as you baste every 15 minutes, as the recipe directs. I do suggest that you check the internal temperature of the chicken after about 45 minutes. I baked mine one hour, and it was slightly overdone.

Baked Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
I made this according to the recipe with two minor exceptions. I left out the peppers, and I sauteed the onion in a little butter before adding it to the mix. It is delicious, but way too fattening to eat on a regular basis. We will save this for the occasional splurge.

Simple Taco Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2010
Delicious! I made a couple of minor changes based on personal preference. Two pounds of ground beef seemed like too much for a recipe that serves six, so I only used one pound of ground beef. After I browned and drained it, I added it with all of the other ingredients to a crockpot. I added a 2.25-oz. can of sliced black olives, drained. I left out the water because I ran out of room in the crockpot, but it proved to be unnecessary, I assume because the crockpot held in all of the moisture.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
This frosting was exactly what I was looking for. It is very creamy and not too sweet. If you like a really sweet cream cheese frosting you will probably want to use a recipe that has less cream cheese and more powdered sugar.

Creamy Spinach

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2010
I made this exactly as the recipes directs, and it was delicious. I wouldn't change a thing. I do recommend using whole nutmeg rather than the pre-ground. One thing you should note is that it only makes 3 servings. I didn't notice that before I made it. When it turned out to be such a small amount, I double-checked the recipe and discovered it only serves 3. I was making this for a large group, so that was kind of a shock, but it was my fault.

Sausage con Queso Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2010
For taste alone, I would have given this a 5 star, but it was too runny. I doubled the recipe and used two cans of Rotel. I drained one of them even though the recipe says "undrained." Next time I will drain them both. I used hot sausage, and one of the cans of Rotel was hot and one was regular. The dip turned out plenty hot enough for us.

Slow Cooker Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2010
This was good, but I think it needs more pizzazz....some more spices or something. It's a good starting point. Just keep in mind if you like LOTS of flavor, you need to add more to this recipe.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
I have made this twice now, and we love it. I make it exactly as the recipe instructs, and it turns out perfectly. Obviously, use your own favorite barbeque sauce and Italian dressing.

Slow Cooker Cocktail Smokies

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
This was good, but I think 3 hours on high was way too much. The smokies were sort of shriveled and dried out. I would recommend that you cook them on low or at least reduce the cooking time to an hour or so.

Summer Tomato Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
The flavor of this dish was very good, but I can only give the recipe a 3 star because when I pulled the pan out of the oven it was half full of watery liquid. It made for a very unappealing presentation. I wonder why no one else had this problem. I followed the recipe exactly. Maybe that result is to be expected, but it ruined the recipe for me.

Maple Salmon

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
Very good recipe. And very easy. I didn't think it was at all too sweet....it was just what I expected from reading the recipe. My husband didn't love it as much as I did, but he's not a big fan of salmon anyway, so his vote doesn't count. If you like salmon, and you understand....surprise, surprise...that maple syrup is sweet, you will like this recipe.

Magic Wands

Reviewed: May 20, 2010
Such a fun idea. I used white chocolate chips because I've never known of frosting to harden to the point that I thought these should to keep them from being sticky. I used a brush to apply the melted chips to the pretzel. Then I sprinkled different colored sugars, sprinkles, nonpareils, etc. onto the pretzel. I sprinkled it over a paper plate and then poured the excess that fell onto the plate back into the container. Next time I think I'll try almond bark instead of white chocolate chips....I just like the taste better.

Holiday Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2010
I thought there was too much paprika and seasoning salt in this recipe. I used Season-All, which is red in color, and when I mixed it and the red paprika into the mayo, it turned the mayo red, which made for a funky looking chicken salad. And if I make it again I think I will use Miracle Whip instead of mayo. But it was still pretty good.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2010
This was my first time making barbecue, and I have no reason to ever try any other recipe. This was delicious...everyone loved it. I followed the recipe exactly except I did put a chopped onion in the bottom of the slow cooker before I put the pork in. I also followed another reviewer's suggestion to heat the cast iron skillet in the oven as it was preheating. The barbecue really sizzled when I added it to the skillet. I used Sweet Baby Rays Barbecue Sauce. Thanks for a recipe that is as easy as it is delicious!
