Ontario Beef Rouladen

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2014
If you enjoy spicy dishes, then add your spice to the meat mixture and/or sauce. Thanks for trying this traditional dish, we do love it.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2014
I followed what another reader said about a crumb topping, followed their advice and the butter in this topping caused the cake to not bake in the center and it was swimming in butter. Ruined what otherwise I think would have been a great recipe.

Ginger Pork Stir Fry (with Mushroom)

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2013
Interesting. I am making this right now, have the veggies and ham in the wok, sauce is made and I did double it and just for fun I added oyster sauce to the mix and a little extra brown sugar. I am also making peanut sauce to go with it and am making kroepoek groot to help scoop up the awesomeness. Starving and it smells wonderful...thanks for sharing.

Chef John's Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2013
Thank you so much. I made this exactly as written and Chef John, you have a winner here! Everyone enjoyed this soup and not one complaint. I did take the option of the cayenne pepper and it was perfect, just one eight of a teaspoon. Again, thank you for sharing.

Eggs Benedict

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2013
I also found the sauce was too lemony so much so that it completely took away from the butter flavour. I also use my own method of poaching the eggs. In a saute pan generously butter bottom, heat to medium-high break in your eggs, slowly cover eggs half way with water, put on a tight lid. So much easier!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2013
Made these today. I should have read the reviews first! The flavour is excellent, but they are too 'soft'. They didn't run but I should have added the baking powder and more flour like some of the reviewers said. Next time I will!

Mom's Nova Scotia Seafood Chowder

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2013
I made this exactly as the recipe called for. It is an expensive dish to make here. I found that you really need to measure the liquids out, as it was too 'liquidy' even after I drained off the water. The cooking time was a bit too long also. I love seafood chowder and even though this was good, I've had much better. Are you sure there's no thickening? After supper, I did drain off again half the liquid and I'm sure it will be much better now. I know you saiud your measures are 'approximate' but even so....we had to 'fish' for the seafood in the liquid. I've also noticed in your picture there is corn, the recipe never called for corn....

Quinoa with Veggies

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2013
This was my first run at quinoa. I discovered that quinoa takes on the flavour around it, on it's own it tastes like socks. I followed the recipe but did add to it, couple pinches of dried onion powder, half tsp or more dried garlic powder, bit of extra salt...and you know what? It's rather nice.

Slow-Cooker Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2013
I live in Ontario Canada and I have never seen a corned beef brisket! We can buy corned beef in the deli. I would love to make a brisket with the spice packet, does anyone know what is in the 'spice packet'? Thanks!

Baked Macaroni and Cheese III

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2013
Very nice recipe! Loved the crust! I did use a little less pasta and juiced it up by using 1.5 cups milk, .5 cup sour cream and 1 cup of heavy cream in place of just milk. (I was craving rich comfort food). My husband who is not a mac and cheese lover told me three times how good this was! The spices are perfect. Lovely.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
I've done your chicken and will be doing two more for this Easter's dinner. Absolutely fabulous! I did use real butter and put it under the skin and added a onion to the cavity as well as the celery. Perfect! I named it 'Crackle Chicken' because I could hear the skin crackle and cook. Amazing and thank you for this!!!!

Tartar Sauce I

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2013
Most store bought tartar sauces have that 'oily, cheap mayonese' base that really turns me off. I've always just mixed Miracle Whip and sweet pickle relish and there you have it. I do like to sqeeze a little lemon right on my fish for that little zing.

Beezie's Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2013
I have this soup on the back burner now. Flavour city! It still has the last 2 - 3 hours to simmer but the broth has a flavour explosion! I did not have jalapeno peppers on hand so I used 1/8th of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Also, I only had white wine vinegar on hand and used that instead of the red. This soup so far is fantastic and will compliment our supper tonight wonderfully! Thank you!

No Bake Chocolate Cookies I

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2013
I was sooooo looking forward to making these cookies from my childhood days. I read the recipe, I always knew what was in them, but wasn't sure of amounts. So I read the reviews and followed the recipe from the lady who said she was making these for 50 years and makes them every week. I cut the butter to half (like so many reviewers said to do) and followed her instructions to the letter. Terrible. I have a crumbly mess. They won't stick together at all. I'll keep looking.

Apple Dumplings II

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
Oh my! This is a very nice recipe but it is imperative that the dough is doubled! My apples are not that large, I even trimmed the bottoms off, but I still do not have near enough dough to cover the apples. I don't have time to make more dough, so I followed through with the recipe and will cross my fingers that they are edible. They smell delicious and I love the texture and work-ability of this dough. Will make again sometime but will double this dough. I only gave three stars due to the dough shortage problem.

Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2013
I've made these before and I see my review didn't get through. Make exactly as the recipe says, they are so nice, perfect! The dough is supposed to be 'goopy' and I love the different texture when working with it. The reason we come to Allrecipes is to try new things, not complain they aren't all the same!
