About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new things! I get bored very easily in the kitchen. I try new recipes every week. My recent tries: New York Cheesecake, homemade yogurt, homemade buttermilk, Chinese-style green beans, Sesame Chicken, many different varieties of burritos and soft tacos....
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband's mother was a fabulous cook. You know the type...she always tasted everything and had no measurements to go by. My family...well, we followed the recipe. I never tasted anything until it was on the table for dinner! Needless to say, it makes for very interesting times in the kitchen with my husband! LOL! Just to let you know, I do taste recipes now while I'm cooking, but not near as much as my husband.
My cooking triumphs
Making sure my family gets to eat 3 meals a day. 24/7/365
My cooking tragedies
This should make you laugh. I can't remember all that I tried to cook, but... One day, years ago, I was so busy with little ones around my feet. I cooked dinner. Burned it. I cooked a second dinner. Burned it. I cooked a third dinner. Burned it. (Wow! Who would've thought I would have had that much perseverance! I have no clue how I managed to burn 3 dinners in one evening! I really must have had a crazy day with my little knee-huggers.) My reward for being such a great cook, we went out to eat! I still laugh about this day and I will probably never forget it!

Bacon Roasted Chicken
Oh, Wow! This was so delicious! I stuck an onion in it. It was easy to make and very juicy!

German Currywurst
I really liked this one! I made some rice to go along with it. My children wanted me to add more spices next time, but I told them that I really enjoyed the flavor and sometimes it's nice to eat foods that aren't spicy! This is a great party food for the kids. Make some and watch the ball game!

Romano Chicken
Very delicious! Even my picky eaters liked it! (One of them pulled the ham out, but -- hey, at least they really liked the flavor!) I decided to bake it in the oven since I couldn't flatten my chicken out to 1/4 inch thick. Then, I was concerned that it would dry out in the oven, so I put a little water into some Cream of Mushroom soup and poured it on top of the chicken rolls. I put my seasonings on top of the soup mixture. I baked it at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
