Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2003
These were really just "okay". I make the majority of the veggies at our house very similar to this, with a little less and butter and garlic and no parm cheese and my veggies seem to have a better flavor than these. Maybe it was becasue they were green beans, we like this recipe with brocoli, zucchini etc. Try this recipe using veggies you would "stir fry".

Ranch Oyster Crackers

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2003
Quick easy snack! I think I will add another 1-2 cups of crackers to the mixture next time, may balance the flavors out a little more, it was pretty "zesty"! I will definately be making these again though...better than store bought.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2003
This makes A LOT. We ate it for dinner last night and I fed about 12 teachers with it today at school. It is very easy, little prep and "doctoring up" the jar spaghetti sauce with some fresh garlic and reduced red wine really made it tasty. We will definately be making this one again.

BBQ Country Style Ribs

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2003
Very easy basic recipe. I used boneless country style ribs and cooked them about 2 hours total. They were good if anything the BBQ sauce that you use is going to make or break the recipe. It is a good "winter" type rib meal though.

Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2003
This is the first time I have made focaccia bread and it was really good. I left out the oregano and thyme and added a little rosemary mixture that I had. I also added about 1/2 cup of cheddar instead of the mozzarella. It was SO good and is great with a creamy pasta to dip the bread in!

Basil Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2003
My husband loved this recipe and I made the following adjustments. I too doubled the garlic and black pepper and added some crushed red pepper flakes to the sauce. I cut my chicken in strips and tenderized them before cutting them up. I also added probably 1/4 cup of parm cheese to it at the end too. Will make again!

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2003
Not a bad recipe for fairly little work. I too added the peppers the last hour or so and also added another T of corn starch then too. We ate this over white rice. It was a good "winter" meal even though it wasn't winter here. :) Will make again this winter.

Peach Cobbler II

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2003
This was a fairly easy recipe and had a really good flavor. I used 5 very ripe fresh peaches and also cut down the sugar to one cup and added 1 teaspoon of vanilla to the batter. I did not add the boiling water or butter to my reciupe and did not miss it at all. Next time I think I am going to add some brown sugar to the batter as well, I think it could be a touch sweeter.

Quick and Easy Pimento Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2003
I am only giving this four stars because I made such drastic changes to it, my changes may not be "quick and easy" though but are great additions for my personal tastes. I grated 4 cups of colby cheese, added a dash of cayenne to that, 4 sliced green onions, salt and pepper, and a 4 oz. jar of pimentos, drained. To that I added 3/4 cup of homemade mayo. That was just 1 egg and 1T of lemon juice in a food processor, slowly drizzle in 3/4 of a cup to 1 cup of olive oil, depending on consistancy and then salt and pepper that. (That mayo will make over 1 cup though) Mix everything together and it is AWESOME!!! This would be great with the big toasted crouton things that you can buy or make.

Warm Crab Parmesan Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2003
This was a very rich recipe and tasted great when first out of the oven. I added about a cup of shredded mozzarela to the top because I ended up cutting the parm cheese in half. Next time I am going to add some southwestern seasonings or something, it needed something like that. There are a few restaurants in my area that serve an appetizer crab dip similar to this with the blue tortilla chips but they are a little spicy and I like that about them. Will use this as the base recipe though...very good.

The Best Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2003
I make this same recipe using french bread cut in half length wise. In a bowl mix up about 1/2 cup mayo with about 1 cup shredded mozzarela cheese. ON the bread I spread butter on both pieces and sprinkle that with garlic powder and then spread the mayo mixture over that. This gets broiled med to low for about 3-4 minutes (until cheese mixture is browned and bubbling). I have never made this recipe and not been asked for the recipe. It can be very rich but with pasta it is AWESOME!!!

Chocolate Pudding Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2003
Very easy and rich dessert. It mixes up in no time and I generously oiled and floured a bundt pan that was probably 50 years old and it came right out. Loved this cake.

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2003
This is fun recipe to make. My only complaint is the last few times I have made it, the chicken fell over, everything got scorched or the heat of the grill burns the outside and doesn't cook the inside that well. I also only do this on the grill for about 1 hour 45 minutes and it is cooked throughly. I am going to try it another time, balancing the chicken on something and doing indirect heat for the 3 hours and see if that solves the burning problem. Up until recently though this was a sure fire recipe that cooked in less than 2 hours.

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2003
This is one of the most perfect side dishes I have ever made. I do what the recipe states except I do not add any basil. While the orzo is cooking in the chicken broth I saute 8 oz of sliced mushrooms in olive oil, set aside in a bowl and then saute an entire bag, maybe 10 oz of baby spinach in olive oil for maybe 30 seconds and then when the orzo is done cooking I mix it altogether and add the parm cheese. I make this with any meat and it is always LOVED.

Bob's Blue Cheese Dressing

This seems more of a veggie dip than a salad dressing. it is VERY thick and hearty. We ate it with a veggie tray the second day loved it.

Warm Blue Cheese Dip with Garlic and Bacon

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2003
This is a dip for blue cheese fans. I served it with french bread as suggested adn didn't bring anything home from a dinner party. It has a somewhat strong flavor but due to the ingrediants, you have to expect that...very good.
