The menu idea on this is brilliant, if you haven't gone pro, I suggest you do so and soon.  My wife and I went grocery shopping on friday, and we didn't nearly spend what we usually do on food do to the shopping list assistant on this site that was a HUGE guide.  Normally we spend over 200$ a week, but last week we were under 150$ and that is for a full menu for SEVEN days...mind out it is just the two of us, and I created a menu that has one meal per day. She works I don't...

It is fun to see what the week is going to bring and know what you are going to eat for supper, that way she isn't calling me and saying, "hey baby whats for supper?" she already knows!!

Part of my menu has mushrooms in it, fresh HUGE mushrooms, she loves them...funny thing is she tries to sneak them out of the fridge and eat them...I so bust her everytime,"stay out of my MUSHROOMS" they are for the MENU!!

GOD do I love that woman!!

Happy cooking everyone!!

No! I think anyone named Marianne should be allowed to put her pinkies in the mushrooms! :)

I'm with Marianne, you need to spend $155 dollars and get extra mushrooms, obviously! ~~~

I love to eat mushrooms as snacks, too. Buy extra so everyone is happy.

I say listen to Raedwulf above and spend a couple extra bucks so she can snack on some mushrooms! ;) Cute picture; you both look very happy!

We like mushrooms but, it seems, we don't eat them fast enough. So, Maianne can stop by for a snack and do a good deed at the same time.

I also love mushrooms. I remember going out with my grandfather (he died in the 1960's) into the woods in Michigan and hunted for "Puff Ball" mushrooms sometimes we would find them over 12 inches across back then. we would bring them home slice them about 1\2 inch thick and fry them in some butter. that was dinner. Disclaimer: you must not eat wild mushrooms unless you know what ones are OK to eat.

Hi, Beth! Now you've done it, menu planning is addictive. The $$ you save only feeds the need, making you spend more time doing things like organizing your freezer. Read Mike Harvey's last blog post about it, brilliant! I love, love, love the pic of you and Marianne, you're so clearly in love. Make Mushroom Sauce (the one submitted by Jimmi) for Marianne - she'll be yours forever. Don't forget to double the 'shrooms for her!

About Me
Well, I am a Domestic Engineer who works hard to keep a healthy home for her beloved wife and family.
My favorite things to cook
I have yet to discover my ultimate favorite item to cook, but I do enjoy throwing together various ingredients to make a scrumptious stir-fry out of chicken or pork...
My favorite family cooking traditions
We hope to make our own family cooking traditions, as my wife was born and raised in Scotland we hope to pass down to our children true Gaelic traditions...
My cooking triumphs
My mother is known for her Thanksgiving gravy from the ripe juices of the cooked bird, every pot luck at our church if there was a she was in charge of the gravy, because her's was ALWAYS just right with no lumps...I have mastered that art as well...the trick is to mix your flower with hot water first in a cup or bowl with a whisk till it is nice and thick, a consistency of condensed tomato soup. Then while your Turkey juice is boiling on the stove, slowly mix and whisk together, but don't pour all of it in, your gravy will become too thick when it cools, it will take time and experience to see how much to apply.
My cooking tragedies
Well actually it was our cooking tragedies, my wife was cooking bbq wings one night, we have a dehydrator it has a fruit roll tray...well needless to say somehow it got enveloped under the bbq wings tray and well got put in the oven, yeah that was a HUGE mess!! The next mishap was just last night, we took out the Tuna mushroom casserole and we left the top of the stove on, didn't realize it, and thought that we were leaving the casserole out to cool to get ready to eat, nope!! 20 min later we were, "is something burning?" went to the kitchen and the bottom of our meal was burnt in the shape of the burner...we ate around it!! no harm!!
