Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
I made this as written so I could give it a fair review, it was a decent cake but I wholeheartdly agree that 1 hour was WAY too long mine was done in 45 minutes, and it needs more ginger and spice to get more of a gingerbread flavor. I made a simple glaze of butter and powdered sugar. Next time I may use brown sugar instead of white.

Icebox Cookies II

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
I have had this recipe in my box for 3 years waiting to be made. I try to stick with the recipe as written the first time I make it, but I thought 5 cups of flour? They were super crumbly, would not stick together to roll into logs, I pressed it into a pan and let it chill hoping that would help but alas the minute I tried to slice it the dough fell completely apart.

Chewy Brownie Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
I guess I am in the minority here but i didn't think these were all that great. They were ok, but not all that great. I followed the recipe exactly and thought they had a funny after taste. I much prefer the chocolate truffle cookie recipe from this site if I am looking for a chocolate fix.

Pistachio Cream Cheese Fingers

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
I have had this in my recipe box since 2004 and finally got around to making it. Oh my goodness I regret waiting so long. These are wonderful. I followed the directions and chilled for 1 hour, then instead of fingers I just rolled and flattened into discs. Next time I will use 2 boxes of pudding mix to get a stronger flavor.

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2008
This was good. I doubled it for a function at work and baked in a 9x13 pan. I doubled the topping too and was glad I did. People said it tasted like the jumbo blueberry muffins you get at the bakery. I used fresh blueberries too, and I think it mad a difference.

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
These were exceptional. I always took the advice of the previous reviewers and upped the PB to 1 1/2 cups and melted it with the butter. I also increased the grahm cracker to 1 1/2 cups and I decreased the chocolate chips to 1 cup. No major changes and everyone enjoyed the results!

Lemon Coconut Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2008
These were wonderful. I used a full cup of lemon juice and added an additional egg. I left the sugar ratio alone and they turned out wonderful. I also used a full cup of coconut and it was fine. Thanks for a great recipe.

Naan

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2008
This was wonderful grilled bread, but it didn't really taste like the naan we get at the restaurant. Still my husband who normally doesn't like bread had 5 pieces so I will definetly make again!

Very very good. Tender, steak with just the right amount of spice. Let our ribeyes marinate for 24 hours then they cut like butter.

Honey Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: May 21, 2008
These were soft and cake like and the flavor was good. I would like a flatter chewier cookie with more honey flavor so next time I may decrease the flour, up the honey and maybe add coconut for texture.

Coolaid Pie

Reviewed: May 6, 2008
this was a hit. I made my own crust and used a 9x13 pan. I used the lemon-lime flavor koolaid. I used a flower cookie cutter as a template and sprinkled pink sugar in it to make cute pink flowers on top. I had requests for the recipe.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

I doubled the filling and the crust. The filling was still very runny even after baking 20 minutes at 350. I want to make perfect lemon bars. Will try again.

I doubled the sauce but it got really really sticky, and kind of was paste like. My husband never finished the leftover and he eats everything.

While this was good I was hoping for something a little less dense (too much like zucchini bread for me) any suggestions to make it more fluffy?

This was pretty good. I made it with grounf beef and taco seasoning. Even though there is a ton of cheese, I might add more next time. Also don't skip the roasting part it is very important.
