Unbelievable Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2014
My hubby wanted to know where I bought the rolls and really didn't believe I made them! They were really great!

Fresh Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2014
Mmmmmmm, this was delicious! Used light mayo and halved grapes instead of the raisins. Only other thing I changed was to cut up about 4 slices of Turkey bacon and fry it up with cooking spray since it really doesn't crumble like the real stuff. Even so, it was delightful! I made it early in the day and let it sit in the fridge until dinner, so the flavors really had a chance to meld. Will definitely make again and again. Thanks for the great recipe!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
I made seven mini pot pies and my husband and boys who have never had pot pie of any kind all really loved them. I did have to make a few changes. First, we really don't like boiled chicken, so I browned two boneless skinless breasts, diced small, in olive oil with onion and seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder and poultry seasoning. Once the chicken was cooked, I put in 3 Tblsp of flour then added some water I had boiled with bullion granules and the milk. While this thickened, I added the celery seed, more pepper and a bag of frozen peas and carrots. Then I filled my pie shells that I had pre-baked for about 6 minutes and brushed with egg whites. Finally, I placed the top crust on and brushed with egg whites. The results were amazing!

Vanilla Wafer Cookies That Are Better Than Storebought

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2014
These little vanilla wafers are so delicious! After reading several reviews, a common theme I saw was that the cookies spread a lot, so I increased the flour slightly to 1 and 1/2 cups and also increased the vanilla to 1 and 1/2 tblsp. The shape held perfectly and after nine minutes, they were golden brown on the bottom. The only thing I miss is the crunchiness if the store bought kind, but since I didn't make a banana pudding, that didn't really matter. I will definitely make again and I may try decreasing the heat a little and leaving them in slightly longer to try to get them crunchy. Very yummy!

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2014
This cake is my go to recipe without a doubt! It always turns out so moist and rich regardless of whether I make cupcakes, a two layer round, a quarter sheet or a bundt. It is so easy to throw together, too. The only substitution I make is to use vinegar to make sour milk as I don't buy buttermilk because it usually always goes to waste before I can use it all. I made a bundt today with a caramel glaze frosting from this site and my 5 yr old son told me, "this cake is the bomb!" Thanks Marsha for a wonderful, wonderful chocolate cake recipe that I can always count on to come out right!

Caramel Frosting VI

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2014
"This cake is the bomb", a direct quote from my 5 yr old son. I drizzled this glaze immediately after it finished boiling for two minutes, over a bundt Black Magic cake from this site. It was so delicious, tasted just like the caramel sauce that used to come with the apple slices at a popular fast food chain. I love this chocolate cake recipe, but using this glaze took it up to a whole new level! I also posted a pic of the frosted cake!

Honey Glazed Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2014
This was really good! I seasoned the chicken with salt, paprika and ground mustard powder as suggested by another reviewer. Then, I browned the chicken in oil and removed from the skillet and added about 4 cups of stir-fry veggies to the remaining oil until heated through. Then I poured in the sauce mixture, which I doubled to accommodate all the added veggies, and added back the chicken and let the sauce reduce some. Finally, I added a little cornstarch mixed with cold water to thicken it a tad. The amount of sauce was perfect to coat all the meat and veggies and mix well with steamed rice on the plate. Yum!

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2014
The one ingredient that gives a sloppy joe it's kick is missing! You absolutely have to have a splash of vinegar, otherwise it's just ground beef swimming in ketchup! Once I added the vinegar though, it was delicious.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2014
It's a really great banana bread recipe! Made the four loaves and 8 hours later we're down to two. I did add a couple dashes of ground cloves and sprinkled the cinnamon sugar on top and bottom before baking. Also, baked at 325 for about 50 minutes for perfectly done loaves. Didn't have any walnuts on hand, so made without and missed out on the added crunch.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2014
Made these today with a wonderful outcome. Based on other reviews, I started with just 4 cups of flour and dusted a little more as needed and the dough baked up just perfectly, soft and chewy. Once they were done (about 7 minutes at 415 degrees), I brushed them with melted butter and dipped them in a bowl of cinnamon and sugar to coat. I made 6 pretzels like this and used the rest of the dough to make 8 pretzel dogs which were simply brushed with butter. Oh, I kinda wish this didn't turn out so good because now I'm really going to have to exercise a LOT of self control not to over-indulge!

Braided Egg Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
I'm in trouble now because this bread turned out so good we're having a hard time staying out of it. I changed nothing and ended up making one huge loaf and one average size loaf and so I cut the big one into three sections and froze after baking. The texture and flavor are so good! Next time I will try to get 3 or 4 average size loaves. I much prefer to make a big batch and freeze than to try to carve out the time to make it more often. Thanks for the great bread, I posted a pic!

Peppermint Meringues

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
These were so good! I made one batch pink with green and red crystal sugar sprinkled on and the second batch green. I added peppermint extract to both batches since I didn't have the candy canes. I spooned out the first batch and used the ziploc bag piping method for the second which was much easier. Next time I will add some chocolate shavings. There's so much you can do with this recipe to have different flavors, etc. Thanks for the recipe, Kathy!

Super Squash

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
Delicious. I used a 9X13 pan and it was perfect. Not much left over since we all kept going back for "a little more". The only thing I did differently was to use bread crumbs instead of crushed crackers, because I didn't have the crackers on hand.
