California Grilled Veggie Sandwich

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
I have found recipes on here that have rave reviews before & when I try them, I'm not that impressed. I kind of thought that was going to happen here, but this really is a fantastic recipe. I've had it 2 nites in a row. I used lower fat mayo & really didn't taste a difference since there's so much flavor already. I did add some sun dried tomatoes to my mayo mixture. Also, I don't care for feta so I used marinated mozerella that I got from Trader Joe's which made it really special. We tried regualar mozz & it just wasn't as good. I also grilled some asparagus since I'm a big fan to add to the sandwich. Can't wait to have it again!

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
These were pretty good. I'm still looking for "the one" brownie recipe but I did like these. I added a Tbs. instant coffee (dissolved in the water-heated the water) for a coffee flavor.

Tasty Lentil Tacos

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
Like most everyone else, I was really skeptical about this. I kept having to "psyche" myself up that this is good for you. I used a little bit of taco seasoning along with the seasonings called for. I was able to get pre-cooked lentils from Trader Joe's which was nice..and we were not disappointed. These were really good! My fiance said he wants to never go back to eating ground beef tacos again. They kind of taste like beans and beef are mixed together. Yum..I think I want some right now! Thanks for sharing such a great, healthy recipe.

Spicy Black Bean Cakes

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2008
These get 5 stars for how good they are for you and are tasty as well. The only thing I did differently is added canned chopped jalepeno since there was a recall on fresh jalepenos. Made them nice and spicy. Though I do have to say, I had quite a time not breaking these apart when trying to flip them and they took much longer than the 4 mins stated or they would have been mushy. I finally figured out at the end that when it came time to flip, I put a piece of foil (with little oil) on top of the cakes and flipped pan and all, making it easier to heat the other sides. Then I carefully slid them off of foil when it was done and they stayed in tact. I tried frying these in a pan with a little olive oil and that did not work well at all. It just soaked up the oil and stuck to the pan. I will have to try the pam next time, but I may just stick with broiling them.

Mexican Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2008
I found this recipe years ago and never reviewed it. Then I couldn't remember what it was called and have been wanting to make it again. We used to eat it all the time and it is so good. Sometimes I add a little sour cream or pepper jack cheese.

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
I have had much better peanut butter bars. I really didn't care too much for these ones. They needed more of a peanut butter taste. They were really lacking flavor.

Seattle Cream Cheese Dogs

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
I am from Chicago & love my Chicago dogs but these were a good change. They sounded so gross, but I was intriqued by the reviews. I hate onions and cream cheese seems so wrong on a hot dog, but they were really good! I had to fight with my mom to convince her to try it, since she was so repelled by the thought. Once she did, she agreed these were great!

Sauerkraut Hot Dog Topping

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
This was really good. I didn't have any caraway seeds, so I didn't use them. Not sure how different it would have been with them...My family really enjoyed this.

Jalapeno Poppers I

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
These were pretty good, but I can't get over the poppers that Lone Star used to have so I can't give 5 stars..I subbed some Pepper Jack cheese for part of the cheddar hoping to give it more flavor. I also added some crumbled bacon and blanched the peppers for about 5 mins. They were still crisp afterwards, so I didn't really like that.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2008
This was pretty good. I like the idea of adding brown sugar to the filling. I also added cinnamon & nutmeg as well as vanilla like others suggested. Make sure to put a baking sheet underneath as it seems pretty inevitable that it is going to run over. Good recipe. Thanks.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2008
Way too much work for the lack of taste. I had so many problems with this dough. It was sooo sticky. I had to add so much flour that it made it too odd. I don't know what the problem was but I don't think I will ever try this again.

Molten Chocolate Cakes

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2008
I think the bake time is way too long and the temp is too high. I made these twice, the first time I baked them 2 mins less than suggested and the middles didn't ooze and the edges were almost burnt. I did it again with the oven decreased to 350 and for 9mins. Better but still not quite. I am looking for something like Morton's Godiva chocolate cake. Maybe I will try again with some liqour added.

Wow! This really was good. I think it would be really good with sunflower seeds mixed in it. I used walnuts and it was fabulous! I made my boyfriend Rocky road as he is not a big vanilla fan and he wanted to eat all mine..

Coconut Ice Cream

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2008
Very good. Though I think it really could use some pineapple and it would be that much better! Easy recipe. I like that it has no eggs and no cooking. Cream of Coconut is very very thick. If what you have is thin, it is not the right stuff. You will ruin your recipe if you use the wrong stuff...
