I have been retired for a year and a half, and love having time to pursue new and old hobbies. I'm into genealogy research, reading to my heart's content, playing with my three cats and two dogs, traveling some and just enjoying being at home.
My favorite things to cook
I love to fix salads, vegetable dishes, desserts, and various breads. I have been a vegetarian for almost 20 years, so I'm not a meat cook.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love those big holiday meals. My favorite though is just good Southern cooking with a heavy emphasis on vegetables. There's nothing better to me than a big meal of fresh garden veggies, a big salad, homemade bread, and a big glass of iced tea.
My cooking triumphs
Well, really haven't had what I would call triumphs. I'm a so-so cook in a rut. I want to start experimenting with new recipes and methods of cooking. I also want to learn about spices and different ways of using them. I'ready to branch out.
My cooking tragedies
Lasagna! Pasta never got done. Years ago I coOked a turkey without taking the giblets out first. I made some fudge so hard a hammer was needed to break it up!
