ONLY 18 RATINGS??? HOW CAN THIS BE. This is SO amazing and heavenly and dangerously addictive; you might NEVER want to eat any other strawberry filling EVER. -slurps up the gooey goodness- YUMMM

Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
I didn't have shortening, so I took the advice of others and used all butter. Reduced sugar to just 1.25 cups. It held up well (even in humid Singapore, so that's saying something), was stiff enough to pipe without refrigerating! Icing was smooth and creamy, and complimented my vanilla cupcakes well. Definitely a keeper.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2012
SWEET CHEEZEUS. This was really good!! My guinea pig tasters said it was better than commercially sold ones! -beams- But I must admit, all the credit goes to the recipe! It is really easy to make and turned out so beautifully. The only changes I made were: (1) Using 2c digestive biscuits in place of graham crackers; (2) Cutting down 1/4c on sugar; (3) Handmixing after creaming the cream cheese and sugar; (4) Using a water bath. MY CHEESECAKE DID NOT CRACK! -beamsbeams- In future, I might take out the cheesecake after 2 hours, 5 hours browned the top too much :\ Also, for those who like a thick layer of biscuit under your cheesecake, the proportions of this one are woefully inadequate! Overall, a wonderful recipe, thank you Chantal (:

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2012
The texture of these muffins were amazing. If you are tempted to cut down on sugar for this recipe, dont!!! Also, in future I would soak my blueberries in sugared water overnight before using them; mine were too sour (maybe that's why they were selling cheap!! hahaha).

Rainbow Clown Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2012
Presentation-wise, this looked so good! I used Wilton's gel paste and all it took was a small dab on the tip of a toothpick to get a light pastel shade, exactly the way I wanted it. Did not swirl the batter, but instead layered it by colour. Do take note of the number of colours you have and spoon in proportionate amounts cause you can't undo the layering! hehehe. Taste-wise, it was not that great; but that is probably because I used a cheap cake mix. I frosted the cupcake with some leftover cream cheese — looked nice but the taste didn't really blend. But I would still make this again, it is too pretty to pass.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2012
Chocolate-y, check. Fat, check. Chewy, check. This cookie is everything its title says it is! Helpful tips gleaned from other reviews: cut down on the sugar, refrigerate the batter, melt the butter. In future, I would grease the tray, and spoon the batter with an ice-cream scoop. 15 minutes was sufficient (: Overall, nice yummy cookies (and even better with a glass of meiji milk!)

Triple Threat Fruit Smoothie

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2012
I liked the strawberries and blueberries, but in future I would leave out the kiwi and banana, or at least make sure they are very ripe. A little too seedy and had a slight bitter aftertaste.

Delicious Raspberry Oatmeal Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
It was so yummy! It really paid off patiently cutting up the butter and rubbing it in. Put it in the oven for 37 minutes and they aren't too crumbly (: Thanks for the recipe!

Daisy Brand Potato Skins

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2013
This was a simple but yummy dish! Just two things I would do differently the next time: scoop out less potato flesh (but this is just a personal preference) and not brush too much butter on the potato skins. Also, it only took 30 minutes to bake the potatoes. Thanks for the recipe!

Banana Chocolate Chip Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2013
Took the advice of some other reviewers and added vanilla, nutmeg and substituted the 1c white sugar for 1/2-1/2 of brown and white sugar. Added walnuts to the top before baking. Baked for 20 minutes in muffin-form. Amazingly decadent!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
This was excellent, simply excellent. Accidentally put 2T instead of 2t of vanilla extract... and it turned out awesome anyway :D The only helpful input I can give would be: don't skip the cream cheese frosting; it was undoubtedly the best part of this recipe.

Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2012
Very nice twist to a baking staple (: I used Betty Crocker's brownie mix, mixed the batter by hand, layered 2/3 of the batter-cream cheese-remaining batter, swirled with a knife, and baked in a 8x8 pan at 325F for 40 minutes. My brownies were underbaked!!! ): But that's probably my own fault. I ended up freezing the gooey parts and calling it baked fudge! Mum said it tasted wonderful still hahahaha. Will try this again in future; this time with a longer baking time. Helpful tip to make your brownies fudgy: Dont mix too much air into it, and before baking, bang the pan on a hard surface to release the bubbles. Great recipe, thanks!!!

The Best Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2012
I pretty much followed the recipe. The meatballs turned out bland and the sauce was too sweet; I personally didn't like how this dish turned out :\ I suggest looking through the many reviews with helpful tips before making these meatballs. Doubt I'll be using this recipe in future.

Super BLT

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2012
This was amazing. I used this on a wholemeal bagel, and used avocado spread instead of guacamole. Turned out amazing!! If your bread is chewy/thick, make sure the bacon is extra crisp so that it breaks off easily and doesn't make the sandwich difficult to bite off! (: Thanks for the recipe.

Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2014
After reading the reviews, I decided to double the filling, and so I increased the amounts of cream cheese (16oz) and white sugar (1/3c – prefer it less sweet). However, it completely slipped my mind to do the same for the egg, milk, lemon juice (in fact, I even reduced this to 1/2T) and vanilla extract. But despite such a huge mistake, the final product was delish and had a wonderful texture – thumbs up for this super forgiving recipe. I'm sure it would have been even better if I wasn't so forgetful!

Roasted Carrot and Cauliflower Curried Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2013
As written, the lime was so overpowering that it spoiled everything. We had to add sugar to compensate.

Spaghetti Italian

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2013
Like others have mentioned, your house will smell wonderful as the sauce is stewing in the kitchen. To deal with the acidity, I added caramelised onions (at the start, for natural sweetness) and brown sugar (periodically, to neutralise the sourness), and that seemed to work well. Remember to serve with some grated parmesan cheese on the top! Will try with mushrooms and other vegetables in future. (Also, I omitted some of the herbs because they're awfully hard to find/expensive in Singapore, but I doubt that that would have radically changed anything.)

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2013
Followed the instructions pretty closely, except that I used salsa instead of ketchup and added some BBQ sauce. Served it on warm hamburger buns with a side portion of garden salad with homemade honey mustard dressing. T'was delicious and boyfriend was mightily pleased :) Thanks for the recipe!

Barbecue BLT Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
The only changes I made to this recipe was to omit the celery and add artificial sweeteners to the dressing (found it a little sour initially). This was fantastic! My friend (who is averse to salads) devoured his share happily!
