Chicken Pot Pie Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2006
This was just okay. My main complaint is that it was a bit runny. Luckily I made biscuits based on other comments. I think I'll stick to genuine pot pie in the future.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2006
These are pretty good, but not worthy of 5 stars. I did not add salt, used unsalted butter, and used chunky peanut butter. I would have liked more peanut butter flavor and may use peanut butter chips next time. Great airy/fluffy texture.

Pumpkin Spice Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2006
A good starter recipe. Based on other reviewers' comments, I baked for 15 minutes, they came out nice & fluffy. Would like more flavor; next time I will add raisins, nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves. This time I topped with cream cheese icing II based on someone else's post.

Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2006
Very yummy. Next time I will not use low-fat cream cheese, I'll go for the real deal for better flavor. Very easy, makes a lot!

Amish Yumazuti

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2006
Using other reviewers' comments, I halved the amount of noodles, used petite diced tomatoes (not stewed), and a dash of cayenne. Cooked for 30 minutes, and it wasn't dry. This just didn't have as much flavor as I would have liked even after adding the cayenne and 3 cloves garlic. Perhaps I will make again with a different kind of cheese. Good starter recipe.

Homemade Focaccia Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
This is a good basic recipe, but I just can't give it a five because of lack of flavor. Next time I will try putting the herbs in the dough instead of on top. Tastes good after being in the freezer, too.

Best Pennsylvania Dutch Chicken Corn Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2006
This is more like 4.5 stars because it was very salty (but good!). I skipped the dumplings and added carrots toward the end. Also used chicken breasts (which I then shredded), so less fat and less time since no skimming needed. Will definitely keep in my recipe box but use less salt next time.

Chicken Curry I

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
Excellent! I used 1 pound chicken breast chunks, halved the curry since 3T seemed like a lot, halved the cayenne since I'm a wimp, and used only a small amount of onion/oil. Using other reviewers' suggestions, I used 2c chicken broth instead of water and added diced carrots for the last 5 minutes and served over rice. No, I didn't follow the recipe exactly, but the end result was delicious.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2006
Everyone liked this, I thought it was a little bland. Next time I might add the worsteshire (sp?) sauce or try beef gravy instead of beef broth or add minced garlic. I didn't mash the carrots (yuck), added some leftover corn I had, and had to sneak a little milk into the potatoes.

Sweet Potato Casserole II

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2006
This is truly fantastic, I didn't change a thing! Don't save it just for the holidays, I'd eat this anytime. It went especially well with pork chops, since the sweet balanced the salty.

I agree with many other reviewers. These were incredibly bland, I won't make this recipe again.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2006
This was very good. Freshly grated parmesan added great flavor. The only thing I didn't like was the oiliness/greasiness. I might skip the mayo next time.

Pastitsio III

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2006
I would give this a 3, my husband a 5, so 4 is the average. I thought this tasted like jazzed up baked ziti, nothing special. I was also disappointed by the lack of cheese flavor (I used fresh grated parm, and 2x the recommended amount). I have to admit I cut the red pepper to 1/4 tsp because I can't handle spicy foods.

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2006
Absolutely wonderful, will make again and again. Only change was way less butter to make it a bit healthier. Next time I'll try plain breadcrumbs instead of the Italian kind.

Pat's Baked Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2006
I wasn't a huge fan, but my husband liked this and so did the woman hosting the party I brought the beans to. It does make a lot, so I'll probably save this for big occassions and not make it for just the two of us.

Slow Cook Thai Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2006
My husband liked this, I hated it. I used low-salt soy sauce and coconut milk instead of chicken stock, but I still found it salty. The sauce was overpowered by the cumin, I couldn't taste the peanut butter.

Cheesy Salmon Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2006
My husband and I really liked this. My only complaint was that the pasta wasn't really coated with anything, a bit more "sauce" would have been nice. A very healthy and new way to eat salmon!

Corn and Chicken Chowder

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2006
Very good, will make again. I used 2% based on other comments, it came out fine. Not as thick as a cream-based soup (versus broth-based), but still a keeper.

Gnocchi I

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2006
My husband & I had been looking forward to my making this, and I am very disappointed. This is nothing like what I had when in Italy. This was very bland and chewy. I will not make again :-(
