I live in the Netherlands with my husband, Marco, and 2 year old son, Kevin. They are both huge fans of my cooking. When I'm not expirementing in the kitchen I am a professional singer who occasionally does theater and performs with my own jazz band.
My favorite things to cook
Living in the Netherlands is sometimes a challenge as a cook as some ingredients common in the states are not so readily available here or they just don't exist at all. That said, I still manage to whip up most of my favorite Tex-Mex dishes. I also enjoy stir fry and Italian foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being a creole, I of course love my traditional cajun dishes like gumbo and etoufee. But, the most important ingredients for those dishes are nowhere to be found where I live. I'm dependant on care packages from home!
My cooking triumphs
Introducing fajitas to a whole new group of Dutch fans. They all love them and now some of them even make them at home.

French Crepes
Yummy! I added a little more sugar as we like our crepes really sweet. The consistancy of the batter was just right!

Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup
This is a great recipe base. For my taste though, it is a bit bland. To zip things up, I added cayene pepper, cracked black pepper, and 3 cloves of garlic. Also, instead of pureeing the whole soup, I picked out most of the florettes and pureed what was left- the onions and garlic. The end result is both tasty and appealing to the eye.

Calamari Steaks Parmigiano
I'm only giving 2 stars because I may have done something wrong. I don't know what but maybe it was me. The breading just dissipated into the oil. It was a mess. Good thing calamari steaks are so cheap. This was so ugly it never even made it to the table.
