My husband said that this dish is restaurant quality and I agree! I halved the recipe and used chicken stock (freshly made). There was more sauce than needed but I have frozen the leftover to go with some frozen seafood mix that I will cook at a later stage. I think that most of the flavour comes from the shrimp shells/heads and the brandy and sherry added. The best taste came after I added the sherry and seasonings!

Chicken Something

Great recipe- very tasty. However I think the pan may be too big unless you mix all ingredients (except chicken and saving a little onion soup) together and pour around the outside of the chicken. Then sprinkle a little onion soup on top of the chicken. The reason being that the rice that is on top of the chicken will not cook without the liquid! I also used 1.5 packets of brown onion soup (reduced salt kind) and it was not too salty like others have mentioned. Also added a splash more water as I added a splash more mushroom soup. It came out just great- the chicken was nice and moist too! Will definitely make this again.

One Egg Lemon Pound Cake

Good recipe- I made 1 and a half the ingredients because I had a bigger loaf pan (9" by 5") and then cooked it for 1 hour and 10 mins. I also used cake flour (made the cake light and fluffy) but had no lemon essence so used one lemon and some zest of the lemon. This may not have been enough lemon for me but as I also made a lemon syrup to pour on the cake straight after it came out of the oven (see previous reviews), this really zinged up the lemon flavour. It was GREAT!!! and I will definitely make this cake again and again!

Chicken Biryani

I found this recipe to be tasty but I agree with some of the other reviewers- a lot of time and energy required for this recipe! I also found that my chicken went rather dry. The amount of food it made was also huge!! I could have fed a family of 10 on this amount. Additionally, it did not keep very well as the leftovers were quite dry the next day. But to be fair, the flavour was very nice when fresh from the pan.

Rempel Family Meatloaf

A very simple yet tasty recipe. I followed others advice and added an onion and the whole packet of onion soup. Mine was not too salty (as others have commented)so I guess it depends on the brand of soup you use. It was also very light in texture which was great. I will definitely make this again- more so than the brown sugar meatloaf which to my taste is too sweet.

Japanese Chicken Wings

The recipe was OK but rather sweet. My chicken pieces also went very much like 'toffee' on top (chewy and quite sticky) but perhaps that was due to it being cooked under top heat as well as fan forced.

Honey Duck

This duck recipe was OK but I also found that the skin didn't get crispy even though it was pricked many many times. Instead it was rather sticky on top. However it was very moist and the flavour was fine. Would I cook it again? Probably not as I prefer a crispy skinned duck.

Death by Chocolate

This desert was great especially because you could change certain things as you liked and still end up with a great tasting treat! I added coffee liquer to the coffee, used maltesers instead of the chocolate bars and fresh wipped cream instead of the frozen whipped topping (I don't live in America and cannot get this). I also made the German Chocolate Cake III (by Dean, also on this site)from scratch (although it was too much cake but it too was a great recipe). I recommend (as others have) in using 2 packets of pudding mix and making the desert the day before. It tastes much better if you do!! Also the best thing for me is that although it tastes similar to Tiramasu, it is even better!! Thanks for a great recipe.
