I brought my appetite!
About this Cook
I love to cook and bake, but seldom make anything beyond quick and easy recipes. I find home recipes much healthier and tastier than purchased mixes. I grew up cooking for a large family, had many years of cooking for my own family of six, and now find it challenging to cook for only two.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make salsas. Fresh vegetables are beautiful to look at, and I think cooking them takes away from the visual pleasure.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Very big meals where all family members work together. Our favorite meal is Thanksgiving dinner.
My cooking triumphs
I learned to make my absolute favorite food: pork tamales. It is both fun and time-consuming, but working together, my family and I have got the process down to a science.
My cooking tragedies
I learned the hard way to use a deep skillet to panfry chicken and frybread. While heating oil to fry some bread I splashed oil onto the burner and caught my pan of hot oil on fire! Now I use a wok to cook many foods due to my tendency toward clumsiness. No more fires!

Banana Cake II
I have tried many recipes to make cakes from scratch. Most are disappointing being dry or tastless. This recipe turned out extremely moist and delicious. It was a definite success and is one of my favorites.

Donna's 123 Sausage Balls
Loved this recipe. I like proportion of more biscuit and cheese, less sausage. Some say it is dry, but I think it is perfect. My mom adds a sprinkle of milk to make dough moist. No real difference. A great starter, breakfast, or snack.
