About this Cook
Learned to cook at an early age, then it was part of being a "girl"! Like coming up with my own recipes that include spices and flavors that our family likes.
My favorite things to cook
Appetizers such as meat balls, home made sausage and quick and easy to make dips. But experimenting with dishes I've liked when dining out and making a similar meal at home is very satisfying.
My favorite family cooking traditions
thanksgiving dinner is usually the most involved meal. The whole family helps by making their own speciality. Traditions from our son in laws childhood as well as new recipes are introduced yearly.
My cooking triumphs
Making my youngest granddaughter, Ava's, baby shower cake. I bought various Wilton supplies and books and made a two tier, fancy cake complete with pastel frosting trim and a cream cheese frosting. As a topper, I dug out a pair of original Cabbage Patch Kids white plastic shoes! One of my other granddaughters layed "dibs" to the shoes to use on her current doll.
My cooking tragedies
A baked alaska I once tried to make, never tried it again!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
I have made this before and it turned out great. I made it yesterday and it was very watery! I did add some cinnamon to the sugar mixture but thought I had done everything according to the recipe. I managed to cut a few pieces and then drain off the watery liquid put a paper towel to absorb any extra. It tastes great, but how did I end up with all the liquid

Easy Cranberry Granola
This is very easy and wonderful. Used applesauce instead of honey. Added sunflower seeds, flaxseed and pecans. This recipe is very flexible to suit your likes and dislikes. Also included some almond flavoring. Only question: Does this need to be refridgerated?
