Banana Walnut Cornbread

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2012
This is an AWESOME and healthy recipe! However semicolon I read all the reviews in advance and made what I believe are the necessary changes to make this a win/win no matter what. -I added 1 egg and 1 cup of crushed pineapple -I doubled the honey and cinnamon The addition of the crushed pineapple added the needed moisture to keep the bread from becoming dry AND made the end product something with an easy shelf life of a few days.

Whole Wheat Bread II

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
This is one of the best wheat bread recipes around. I have played around with it, adding more wheat flour and less white flour, and it is always FANTASTIC! This is a great 'base' recipe with which to experiment in making bread.

Sugar Cookies V

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2012
This is a great 'standard' recipe for the type of sugar cookies that we all remember from childhood. You know, the ones shaped like Christmas trees, bats, pumpkins, hearts, whatever. I would suggest that when making them, you lightly flour your counter, and lightly flour a rolling pin. Then roll the dough out to the thickness you want. This recipe IS very sticky.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2012
These cookies are DELICIOUS! I am known for my cookies, and when I served these up at a dinner party recently, EVERYBODY raved about how they were the best cookies ever! A couple of people even said 'These are like pumpkin pie donuts!'. I will suggest two things: Allow the batter to chill overnight. The batter is a little sticky and soft, and the cookies will come out too flat. When completely chilled, it is more easily scooped and rolled into balls which can then be flattened out slightly. And as for the icing, I suggest that, rather than drizzling it, place the entire cookie upside down into the bowl of drizzle. Then lift it back out and allow any excess drizzle to fall off (or help it off with a butter knife, or by scraping the cookie on the side of the icing bowl). The cookies are more visually appealing with the white frosting, and they just taste better.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2012
Excellent recipe EXCEPT there is no way in the world it is gonna bake at 325! I have made 6 loaves now (3 batches) and each time it required an hour and a half to bake through. Next time (later today) I am gonna bake at 350. You know, like pretty much everything in the world is baked at. Also, I have spiced it up in a pumpkin pie (ish) way by adding a teaspoon of ground cloves, and nutmeg, as well as a half cup of raisins. GREAT RECIPE AS IS, or modified!!!!!

Buttermilk Biscuits I

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2012
A great recipe! If you haven't made biscuits much, the sticky dough will throw you off! Don't worry, it should be sticky! The stickier the dough, the better the finished product. Just wash your hands, you'll be fine!

Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2012
This was okay freshly made, but once frozen, it is very 'icy' and, oh, I don't know, just plain not good.

Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2012
Great taste, cookies will be FLAT, not thick, no matter what. Significant flour vs oats ratio needed. Also, took 8 minutes to cook for me, no idea why. Not making ever again.

Pumpkin Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2012
Deserving of 5 stars, but VERY DIFFICULT and time consuming! So based on that, definitely not for everybody. I read all the reviews but followed the recipe and technique, unmodified (since I'd never made fudge before) and it did come out perfect. As for cooling to 110 and beating until the gloss starts to disappear, my hand and arm grew quickly tired, so I used my electric mixer on the lowest speed-this worked well. I will most definitely make this again, and soon.

Basic Pound Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2013
This recipe is about perfect. It was moist and delicious. And sweet, but not overly. Nice buttery flavor. I'm sure it's bad for us. But whatevs. The only flaw in this recipe (as posted) is that the batter is NOT enough for 2 pans! Putting all of the batter in 1 standard bread loaf pan will give you a loaf of pound cake. Putting it in 2 pans (as directed) can only give you wafer thin loaves!
