About this Cook
I'm married and we have a couple of dogs and a cat. Since it's only my wife and I, we find ourselves dining out more than we both really want to. We discussed it and are trying to commit to cooking at home more often. After browsing allrecipes.com I decided to become a member. My wife has been a member for a while and it's her goto website for recipes. I'm hoping to become a better cook by learning from the recipes here.
My favorite things to cook
I love stir-fry meals and slow-cooker meals. I also like cooking rice and pasta. I like the challenge of trying to grill steaks and chicken. I haven't mastered it quite yet though.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always go back to the days of my childhood in Abilene, Texas. Every Sunday after church, we'd all head to my grandmother's house where she would have an amazing spread of southern foods. Talk about food bringing families together. Also, the times I had homemade banana ice cream at my grandmother's home will always be times I remember. I also have memories of my own home during Christmas Eve. Every year we would have breakfast for dinner. It was fried eggs, toast, and SOS. Yes it was simple, but it is something I'll always remember.
My cooking triumphs
I actually succeeded in grilling a chicken breast to where it was moist and juicy. After succeeding, it does make one more confident.
My cooking tragedies
I tried frying a fish filet in a pan without any instruction. Well, the fish ended up crumbling into hundreds of bits and pieces. Needless to say, I've been intimidated by fish ever since. I want to learn how to grill fish properly. I can't wait to learn how from allrecipes.com.
