Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
Is this Marie's recipe or is it just from the slow cooker recipe book & the back of lipton onion soup mix? Anywho this turned out great. Take the advice from many others and season the roast with montreal steak seasoning before searing. I quartered 6 baby reds and omitted the onion and celery. Next time I may experiment with red wine.

Bry's Chocolate Lamb Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2007
I was a little scared to try this recipe. If you like to taste while it cooks, don't! It was notsogood during the cooking process but after sitting for a day it was good. It's different from typical chili but not too different. Ok yes I made a few changes.... I added two diced poblano chilis, and I used 1/2 can of tomato & basil soup. The diced tomatoes I used also had green chilies in it. I used 1/2 can of chili beans and 1/2 kidney beans. This recipe will be occuring this cold winter season.

Cake Mix Cookies VIII

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
This cookie is like a hybrid between a brownie and a thin chewy chocolate cookie. I used applesauce instead of oil and they are very moist. After placing the first batch in the oven I realized I forgot the add in vanilla and cinnamon. With or without the adjustments these cookies are great.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2007
Yumm! After a taste test I decided not to add the icing. Maybe next time. I did add mini chocolate chips to the batter. For High Altitude I adjusted the baking powder to be 3/4 tsp, add 1/4 of flour, and scaled back on the sugar (if you typically bake in high altitudes this shouldn't be a surprise). I did use splenda for baking too. This cookie batter is a tad sticky. If you place the dough covered in the fridge for say 7-10 minutes it'll form nicely as you place your mounds on the cookie sheet. Perhaps sans the choc chips and without icing these may be a little one dimesional for the palate. Play around with this one! My house smells like the hoidays :)

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2007
First snow of the season in Colorado and I'm let down by this chili. I did as others suggested and sub'd one can of soup for diced tomatoes with green chilies. Did everything as the recipe called for otherwise. After letting it stew for 2 hours it was very bland. I started playing. I ended up adding minced garlic along with extra cumin, chili and cayanne pepper. To my surprise I had a couple of anaheim peppers so i sliced and diced and threw those in. This chili is better the longer it sits. The next day we had the leftovers and it was pretty darn tasty. Maybe adding the spices during the last hour would help :/ Regardless, I wouldn't call this spicy.

Marshmallow Treats

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2007
Basic goodness. Added splash of vanilla extract with the marshmellows and then some PB M&M's along with the cereal. I also have the idea of using 1/2c rice crispies & 1/2c cocoa pebbles. Then along with the marshmellow to add 1/3c to 1/2c of Nutella.

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2007
I will consider this the foundation of the marinade/sauce I used last night. Initially I stayed to the one to one ration of the honey and dijion mustard and found it to be too sweet. 2:1 was a lot better. Adding Parsley, Paprika, salt & pepper helped added and enhanced the spice in the dijion. Basil.. I smelled the basil and considered what was going on in the bowl. I'm glad I kept the basil out. Grilled and a slice of sharp cheddar. We will be using this again. It was a little on the runny side, but not more than any other marinade. I brushed on extra while it was on the grill.

Garlic Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2007
Followed directions to a T and these required an additional 25 minutes. Sitting down with a nice juicy steak and the potatoes are under done. Because I was checking on the potatoes my steak cooled. When they were finally ready (after dinner) they were bland. 1 star for the thought.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2007
Better than from in the box. Yet, for wanting to take a recipe and get breakfast going, this recipe did require some changes. B powder 2 1/2 tsp, 1 3/4c milk, pinch of salt. If I hadn't added my own touches (vanilla, cinnamon, blueberries) I'm afraid this would have turned out bland. What I've created here, I'll keep for pancake mornings from now on. This recipe is a good starting point to discover how to make pancakes from scratch, but needs revisions to be perfect.

White Peach Sangria

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
Everyone has been right; this will get you buzzed quickly. For this to taste just right you will have to make alterations of your own. Mine were: canned peaches with light syrup, peach schnapps, club soda. Once the bitter has diminished from the white wine, you'll have to watch how sweet this could get. I think I prefer the standard White Sangria better.

Blonde Brownies I

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2007
Good taste, but it was more of a cookie than a brownie. I may tinker with this recipe, since this original sucks.

Crab Quiche I

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2007
I manipulated this recipe to: 1 egg & 3 egg whites, light mayo, and reduced fat swiss cheese. This was good, but something's missing and I'm not sure what. I will probably try a few more times.

Eggnog Cheesecake III

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2006
Eggnog flavor was masked, not very sweet, and required extra baking time with the oven set at 250. Next time I will stick with my standard cheesecake recipe.

This was awesome and worth the time I spent searching for. Would give this 5 stars but it was missing a little ...something.. punch maybe.

Classic Spanish Sangria

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2006
Only flubbed once on this recipe.. It was either because it sat too long before mixing in the wine or because of the wine that was given for this (friend picked up sangria wine) I'll stick with a merlot.

Seven Layer Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2006
I messed with this a little bit, like everyone else. No coconut, used semi sweet chips and milk chocolate/caramel chips. Thank god I had people to take these to othewise I could've eaten them all myself! A small square goes a long way.

The right balance of cinnamon vanilla and butter. Wasn't heavy on the tongue. My friends ask me to make these once a month. They tell me they can't find store made that are as tasty as these.

Peanut Blossoms

I changed this recipe up a bit by using "special" kisses... caramel, peanut butter, etc. I also did this with bite size/ fun size candy bars. Some worked better than others :)

All of my coworkers at the fire house loved this pie. Loved it so much that i got applause and hugs. They didn't believe how easy it was so they all walked away with a copy of the recipe.

Caramel Turtle Brownies

Everyone ate them up! But I found the carmel layer to be difficult in more than one way. They also were very guweey and messy if not kept cold.
