About this Cook
I'm 26. Besides cooking and baking, I love hockey, music, movies, and books. I'm a CSR at a bank.
My favorite things to cook
Geez, where do I start? Mostly pastries and desserts: Cookies, muffins, breads, pies, cakes, ect. I also like making pasta dishes and chicken is my favourite meat to cook, but I mostly use beef. I don't like working with or eating pork. I also hate salmon.
My favorite family cooking traditions
There aren't many traditions in my family other than going to my in-laws for Christmas Eve dinner pot-luck and bringing something that I've made.
My cooking tragedies
Hmm, any time I've tried to make gingerbread cookies, they never turn out or they taste horrible. I can't stand working with the dough. I rarely screw up recipes as I have good attention to detail and work rather slowly. Anything that I do mess up or doesn't turn out I don't get mad at, as I learn from my mistakes, especially when cooking.

Slow Cooker Beef Vegetable Soup
This is a nice recipe. Comforting and different for a nice change. Changes I made: Used frozen corn, fresh baby carrots, 1 large diced potato and about 3/4 can crushed tomatoes. Could not find the soup mix, so I used a can of beef broth. Also put in a good sprinkle of onion powder and some garlic powder. My husband is not a fan of veggies at all, so that's why I didn't go with all the canned stuff with the juice in it. Just wanted to simply as much the first time, but he really enjoyed it, so I won't change a thing and keep my alterations. I thought I would need to add water, but the soup thinned out as it cooked. I start my crockpot recipes the day before and turn it on to a 'Keep Warm' setting, so it cooks for abour 18 hours without burning. Makes everything really tender.

Chicken and Corn Chili
This was a lovely change to the usual chili. I used Ol Del Paso salsa (mild) and just used regular corn (hubby doesn't really like corn in the first place, so I didn't want to go TOO weird with a first-time recipe). I also added a can of diced tomatoes and glad I did because I think the salsa would have been too overpowering on it's own. We both enjoyed this recipe - Only change next time would be to add some some tomatoe paste as well as hubby and I found it a bit too watery. But excellent change and a bit healthier too from regular beef chili!

Healthy Turkey Loaf
This is an awesome recipe. A great substitute for beef meatloaf. We omit the peppers and just and a bit more salsa and throw in some onion and garlic powder for taste. We also mix some ketchup and regular BBQ sauce together and put it on top of the loaf before cooking. And some tang and flavour to it!
