Slow Cooker Beef Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2014
I wanted comfort food and this recipe delivered. Pot roast is a favorite of mine amd this was so easy to put together. It was reaIly simple to prepare. The only difference, I was making for a weeknight dinner so I cooked it on low for about 10 hours. It was so tender and delicious. I served with mashed potatoes, carrots and sauteed spinach. Definitely will be working this into my rotation, I forgot what great weeknight meals you can make with a slow cooker. Thanks Chef John!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2013
This is seriously my new favorite chicken recipe. It is delicious and quick enough for a weeknight dinner. Definitely make extra as you will definitely want leftovers. Excellent on a salad of mixed greens with whatever veggies you have on hand (I used cucumbers, heirloom tomatoes, olives and red onion) with balsamic vinaigrette. This recipe is five stars all the way.

Mexican Pot Roast

Reviewed: May 12, 2013
This was a really wonderful recipe. I made this for Cinco de Mayo, and had left overs for beef tacos during the week. I think this would be excellent in many different dishes from burritos to quesadillas or nachos. Regarding the heat or spiciness of the recipe, as with everything if you don't love spicy foods, you could decrease the amount of hot sauce to adjust to your own taste. This one will definitely be worked into the rotation. Great to make over the weekend when you have more time and use for quick weeknight dinners. Thanks for sharing.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2012
I came across this recipe and decided to give it a try. I must admit prior to my first time making these pancakes, I was a pancake mix girl. I had made homemade crepes and waffles but never pancakes. So I tried these. I tripled the recipe and used buttermilk in place of the milk and vinegar. They were absolutely amazing. The texture and flavor were perfect. Seriously the best pancakes I have ever tasted in my life. Better than any restaurant or diner pancakes. I will never make pancakes from a mix again. They were totally worth the effort.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2012
I used my grandmother's pie crust recipe. The only change I made to the recipe was to add cinnamon. The filling was so delicious. Baking and cooking always remind me of my grandmother too. I frequently use her recipes, and always use the techniques she taught me. Thanks so much for sharing the wonderful recipe.

Greek Grilled Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
I made these last night. I used Naan bread (flatbread) instead of regular bread and cooked them in a panini pan. They turned out delicious. You could customize these sandwiches and use whatever variety of cheeses and veggies that you like. Makes a very nice grown up grilled cheese. I made homemade tomato soup using a recipe from another site. It was a yummy dinner, and would be perfect for a weeknight dinner (quick, easy and tasty). Thanks for the great idea.

Death by Chocolate Mousse

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
Amazing chocolate mousse recipe. The only change I made to the recipe was that I also added espresso powder as other reviewers suggested. The mousse has such a wonderful texture, it is so rich and decadent. I have tried many other mousse recipes, and this is the most delicious recipe I have found. Thanks so much for the recipe. This will certainly be on the desert menu on Christmas this year.

Wonton Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2012
Thanks for the delicious recipe. In place of the pork I used freshly ground chicken that I ground with the grinder attachment on the kitchenaid. I added finely minced onion and garlic, and an extra tablespoon of soy sauce in with the meat mixture. It was outstanding. I doubled the recipe and fried some wontons and they were amazing too. Thanks for the recipe.

Chef John's Italian Meatballs

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2012
Delicious meatballs. I have always baked my meatballs. It gives them a great flavor and makes it easier to cook and to cleanup. The only change I made was to use only ground beef instead of beef and pork mixture, its just a personal preference. Thanks for the recipe Chef John.

Ex-Girlfriend's Mom's Salsa Fresca (Pico de Gallo)

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
Amazing pico de gallo. Only addition was two cloves of garlic finely minced, added in with the onion, jalepeno and lime juice. The marinating makes it amazing, it allows the flavors to blend. Thanks so much for this recipe.

Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
I added cinnamon to the batter, and as suggested by some of the other reviewers, I used grated and chopped apples, and used over two cups. They were really good. Thanks for the recipe, will be working it in to my regular rotation.

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2012
I followed the recipe exactly (except I used butter instead of margarine). It was good. I noticed it was more flavorful the following day, when I reheated it. When I make it again I will add more spices to the soup base which is essentially a bechamel (maybe garlic and regular onions sauteeed). Thanks for the recipe.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2012
I have tried quite a few banana bread recipes, and despite its simplicity this one is hands down the winner. I follow the recipe exactly except add a teaspoon of cinnamon to the dry ingredients. It turns out perfect every time. Works well for muffins also, but I like the texture of the bread. Its sweet (but not too sweet) and incredibly moist and tender. Thank you Shelley for the delicious recipe, I have made it four times since finding it two weeks ago.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2012
Great recipe. I substituted brown sugar for half of the sugar in the muffin batter, and for all of the sugar in the topping. I also added more blueberries. The family really enjoyed it and Iwill be making these again.
