Swope Bread

This is a nice, dense bread that is simple to make. I sub'd the sugar for an equal amount of honey, personal preference. Tastes very earthy with the whole wheat flour. It's a nice compliment to a hearty soup or just on its own.

Cowboy Cookies III

As another said, I reduced the butter and sugars to 3/4 c and doubled the vanilla to 2 t. Baked at 375. Turned out great. Kind of an earthy flavor to them.

Roasted Squash Soup

This was very good and it's a good thing because I was working with a 15.4# butternut squash (only). I increased all the ingredients x5 except kept the apples at 2. Nice autumn recipe!

Russian Black Bread

Ukrainian Red Borscht Soup

This was absolutely wonderful! I never bought a beet in my life and had no expectations of what Borscht tasted like. I used the whole cabbage and didn't peel the potatoes. It was like the best vegetable soup ever (only with pork). We just loved this and couldn't get enough of it --hot or cold! Thank you for a "forever" recipe!

Easy Leg of Lamb

Couldn't be easier, except getting the rosemary threaded through the netting, but I don't have much patience :) I just laid it on a bed of rosemary sprigs and placed more on top. Came out perfectly! Thank you!

Moroccan Lentil Soup

A very flavorful soup, even omitting the garam masala and cardamom, as others suggested. I threw in a meaty hambone and used the whole bag of lentils, upping the water to 12 c. Count on adding water to reheat it as it is that thick. Thanks for sharing!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

This was so tasty for so few ingredients. I only used 2 teaspoons of bouillon granules, afraid it might be too salty because I wasn't going to add the thickening ingredients trying to make it healthier. It was perfect that way. Thank you for a real keeper!

The Best Lemon Bars

Loved the crust! Will add more lemon for our taste. Used 6 T. lemon juice and didn't have the tang that we crave. Minor for an easy, go-to recipe. Finish with powdered sugar on top. Thanks!

Real NY Jewish Rye Bread

I followed another reviewer and omitted the potato flakes and reduced the water by 1/4 c. Used pickle juice from Vlasic Reduced Sodium Stackers but next time I'll try Zesty Dills. Used brown sugar. This turned out perfectly. The dough was just wonderful to work with. I baked it in 2 half-loaves for just the two of us, freezing one. Baked them for 25 minutes.

Out of this World Turkey Brine

We started brining turkeys a few years ago. Would never go back to any other method. This recipe has the turkey just falling apart so it might not be for everyone but it sure is for us!

Crustless Spinach and Mushroom Quiche

This was very good. I never heard of jalapeno yogurt cheese, so I used 1 1/2 c. plain yogurt and a 1/4 t. of my Sister's dried, homegrown habenero. Yahoo! I preferred the quiche on this site I made about a week ago, Crustless Spinach Quiche (and I did add mushrooms; see my review) as I like the cheese to melt into it and Feta won't do that. I increased all of the ingredients by 1/4, using 6 eggs. It took one hour to bake. I'm thinking it would go well with thinly sliced lamb.

Burmese Chicken Curry

We live where you would never find garam masala so I got a recipe off of about.com Even with that, I couldn't get the black cardamon that is used in it. If you follow that recipe you will have a lot left over so be in the mood for Indian food for awhile. I just left the boneless thighs whole and they fell apart in chunks by themselves after cooking. This was a really good recipe but I will add about double the curry for our tastes next time. Thank you!

This turned out perfect on the grill and looked so nice but it was way too much for just two of us. I kept the remaining dough in the fridge for several days (actually, I forgot about it), covered with Seran Wrap. I then baked it as a loaf in the oven at 350. I was sorry that I didn't check the time, I'm thinking about a half hour. Just check when it sounds "hollow" when you tap on the center.

Chicken Salad Pitas

I omitted the carrot and doubled everything else, shredding rather than cubing the Mozzarella. Used just enough Zesty Italian dressing to moisten. This was nice and crunchy and so tasty. A real keeper!

This was SOoooo good!!! I served it at a group camping trip along with other hot beverages and this just went right away! Didn't change a thing. Served it with Capt. Morgan's Spiced Rum. This was to die for.

So simple and very tasty. I used boneless thighs (our preference) and the Taco Seasoning I recipe from this site except I used 1 T. cayenne instead of 1 t. Very easy with few ingredients.

Crustless Spinach Quiche

This was wonderful! I added 8 oz. of sliced mushrooms to the onions with a green pepper and yellow pepper after a couple minutes, then threw in 1# of fresh spinach (large container from Costco) and put the lid on it to cook with no extra liquid. I also used 6 eggs as some other reviewers said. Great way to use up odds and ends vegetables!

Kung Pao Chicken

Quadrupled recipe and used chunky peanut butter instead of peanuts as that's what we had on hand. Won't do that again. I think I'll just lightly chop the peanuts for more crunch next time, larger size than what's in the crunchy peanut butter because they just got lost, but that was my fault. Might go a bit lighter on the cornstarch and brown sugar when making it for 4 people. GREAT FLAVOR!
