My favorite things to cook
Soups. I love to cook soups. Chicken soup, lentil soup, tomato soup, beef barely, white bean and when I'm feeling ambitious I'll serve my soup with a homemade loaf of whole grain or white bread. I have quite a variety of salads as well. I like a good hearty salad....
My favorite family cooking traditions
So far my mother, my sister and I are pretty well known for our Apple pies. Our chocolate chip cookies are pretty delicious as well. My mother is an amazing, make-it-from-scratch no recipe type of lady. I always tell her she's ruined dine-out eating for me. If I go out, I try and stay away from anything she would normally make as restaurant food never compares to Ma's cooking.
My cooking triumphs
Not really sure. I do know, however, if it's a soup very seldom mess it up!
My cooking tragedies
Ugh, I'm pretty terrible with finicky pastry, aesthetically pleasing desserts and or cakes. Maybe it's because I don't have the patience for them.

Ciabatta Bread
Easy, easy, easy bread to make. I enjoy making this several times a week and anything left over makes lovely grilled cheese sandwiches or toast, yum!

Nany's White Cake
I needed a white cake that would be able to hold a serious chocolate frosting so I looked around and spotted this one. Read some of the reviews and gave it a go. Now, my mother always told me sour cream makes a good cake great, so I did add a cup of sour cream to this recipe. The sour cream in combination with everything in the recipe is perfect. Just perfect. It tastes phenominal, the cake is moist yet it is robust enough to hold gobs of super heavy frosting, so its great for birthdays and special occasion decorating. Thank you for sharing!
