About this Cook
A twenty year vegetarian, I love to cook. I have the blessed ability to recreate dishes that I have tried in resturants or a friend's house. My spice rack consists of a minimum of 40 spices that are replaced every January.
My favorite things to cook
Vegetarian, of course! I have been learning many Indian dishes and creating some flavorful dishes on my own. I get requests from neighbors and friends to make things that they love. I share all my recipes and secrets with everyone.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies and traditional English fruit cake (smothered in brandy)
My cooking triumphs
Many recipes straight out of my head. The problem is, if I dont write them down, I forget what I did! WHen I make something that the family loves, they tell me to "write it down" so I can make it again!
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make dad a big cake for his birthday. My baking powder had expired and the cake never raised. Check your expiration dates before wasting all those good ingredients!

Pistachio Cake IV
I improved the chocolate flavor by adding 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder and 1 teaspoon of instant coffee to the chocolate half. It did a better job of bringing out the chocolate and hiding the yellow-cake flavor. Overall, this makes an excellent and impressive cake!

Southern Comfort Sweet Potatoes
My family doesn't care for sweet potatoes, but I do, so I tried this recipe for thanksgiving. It was a real hit. EVERYONE ate them and some had seconds! Thanks for a great recipe! ~~Sly
